@ThorHa - After the softcap kicked in, in 1943, I managed to upgrade all 6 SE Panzer IV H to SE Panthers but here just wasn't enough prestige to upgrade my other Panzer IV H to Panthers too. I would have loved to upgrade the non-SE Panzer IV G earlier to Panther but there just wasn't enough prestige so I went for the next best thing and upgraded them to IV H. As its within the Panzer IV family, the upgrade didn't cost too many vital organs.

Bear in mind that I'm a fairly experienced player and had trouble identifying what the issue was. The soft cap should ideally be made an optional selection in the difficulty screen just like Reform Units, Chess/Dice Chess/Random etc.
My exact sentiments too, captainjack!!! By the time the softcap kicks in, if you haven't got the optimum amount of prestige, you might not survive GC'43, '44 or '45. I consider myself an experienced player too, having completed 3 Grand Campaign East. The softcap lulls a player into complacency from '39 to '42 and then its a kick to the head from '43 onwards. The softcap should never be turned on by default. If experienced players are struggling with this, can you imagine what a new player will feel like when he can't complete the campaign? If you don't have an adequate amount of prestige by '43, its goodbye and goodnight!

Also the devs need to work in visual display in-game that can at least project what a particular core force composition can expect to generate in prestige in a particular scenario. As it is, antoniocapo's workaround is the only way for me to try and figure out what prestige I'm getting in a particular scenario.
