The Alternate GC Germany and USSR (27/02/22)

Post by nikivdd »

The Alternate Grand Campaign

The download contains both Alternate campaigns, one as Germany, the other as the USSR. Each campaign is 80 scenarios long.

https://www.sendspace.com/file/tp5l9h

The campaign begins with (very) small maps and a small core army.

Install: Extract the rar file in your "documents\my games\panzer corps\mods" folder, start the game, click on the more campaigns folder and this mod should be in the list.
This campaign just uses the vanilla icons of the game and a few extra vanilla entries i made.

Note for the use of personal e-files
The Alternate Grand Campaign is compatible with custom e-files. First, remove the e-file in the Alternate GC/data folder before loading the e-file in GME. Second, your e-file must have units available from 01.05.1936 or you will not be able to play.

I've just tried this campaign.
It's refreshing. I was needing a break from big scenarios with big cores.

Thank you.

@hs1611: I also needed a break from big scenarios and big cores ;)

@Tarrak: I don't know the background either. It just happened when fiddling with the editor when i came up with this.

@Hugh 2711: I always hated writing briefings, so i came up with this. Not many words, but more than enough info. Just let me know if something is lacking or could use more info.

DLC II is going on well, max size of the maps will be 15x15 and a max core of 13 + 2 SE units. There should be enough prestige to buy several new units and rotate them during the campaign. That might be necessary to tackle the final Lords (as i call the opponents here).

Awaiting the second part anxiously. With my work amount atm. i don't get to play much games at all and the little missions fits perfectly, especially as i never was a fan of huge scenarios. :)

I have to say i love this idea! It reminds me of the crusader trail from stronghold crusader (did you get the lord idea from this?) combined with the compact maps from advance wars.

Looking forward to the other DLC's!

I came up with "Lords" just on the fly.

The release of DLC II might be today or tomorrow.

I never expected so much interest, but in my good tradition, i always share what i create with the community :)

Great idea!

Maybe you should make a more historical-based version next (1 small scenario for Poland, another for Norway, Netherlands, Belgium etc. Probably 3 for Barbarossa to Moscow)

Before watching the first episode of the new season of The Walking Dead...

The Alternate DLC II: https://www.sendspace.com/file/mb2di0

You can start DLC II with your saved core army from DLC I or just start with the preplaced one . DLC II should be as "easy" as the first one, except perhaps the final mission of this DLC.
Maxcore = 16 (that includes 2 SE units) and maxsize map= 15x15 (average)

I start working on DLC III tomorrow.

Yiiipiiieh! Great! Just in time, dear Nico. I finished the DLC I yesterday just 2 hours after having first look. Excellent gameplay with the small core and maps. The deployment phase did not took lots of minutes like in the GC, hahahaha.
My KradSchuetzen got 2 Heros ind the first part. Now they are +2 Attack and +2 Defends - super Monster-Motos!

Thank you again, Nico, for the second part!
Greetings, Ramon

Thanks guys :)

For DLC II, i added the 36 version for the Pioniere and Gebirgsjäger unit for those who don't want to remain "stuck" with the ordinary infantry type until 1939.

The Kradschützen also have a 36,39 and 43 version.

If there is anything else, just let me know.

I managed to finish the campaign yesterday. It's quite entertaining and not to hard, except the last mission. While being certainly doable the defenses are a major pain to crack and you suffer losses. I managed to burn way to much prestige on that one i am afraid. Will have to replay it today i think.

All in all a fun little campaign i thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks for your work Nikki. Btw. i love the names of your city. Conquering the town of Piwo is just so much fun. ;)

Thanks Tarrak :)

The 20th mission is to test all those (great?) heroes the units amassed during the course of the 19 missions. The defense can be cracked but it requires a bit of skill and focus on the side or corner which might be the weakest link.
I noticed that the hero pic of the armoured train is not showing (which i'll fix), but at least it can shell hexes from a safe distance with its range 4.

Hehe yes the great heroes are part of my problem. I will do a count and post proper data later today after the football game but i got feeling 50% of them are +1 spotting and another 25% are +1 movement. I know i have a kradschützen with 2 x +1 movement and 1 Bf109 with 2 x +1 spotting. The kradschützen can zip around the map at lightning speed and the fighter is a better scout then my dedicated scouts but well i would prefer more +att, +def or +ini heroes. :P
