stretched screen problem

Post by Happycat »

I run BA2 on a Dell laptop with native screen resolution of 1920x1080. The screen looks stretched horizontally when I compare to how the game looks on my desktop machine running at 1280 x 1024. On the laptop installation, I do have the game set to the 1920 x 1080. Any ideas?

EDIT - now that I look at some of the screen caps in another thread, it appears that anyone using a widescreen format sees the same thing that I see. So, can someone tell me why this should be?

To best illustrate the issue, consider this----in a traditional 4:3 ration monitor, the circular icon which one clicks on to end their turn appears round. In a 16:9 ratio however, such as my laptop, the "end turn" circle isn't actually a circle; it's elliptical.

This is not a big problem of course, but I am curious :)

My desktop is set to 1920x1080 and my laptop to 1280x900 and I don't see the issue you describe with these settings.

I think some of the assets, like the background images in the menu screens, are originally in 4:3.
But only Pip can answer for sure.

There is only one set of assets so a certain amount of stretching is going to occur. We try to balance it to give the best overall look but its almost insolvable without having a different layout for every aspect ratio and that's just big a job. You can also have UI's which tile and fill gaps but then on screen objects shrink when filler is added making them harder to see so whatever you do its a compromise.

Hey Iain, thanks for confirming that I'm not losing my mind at least. I was sure that the images looked a bit wonky on the laptop compared to how they look on my old desktop. Minor thing and does not detract from an otherwise awesome game.
