What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
Re: LORDS OF THE BALKANS circa 1305
bulgarians (fogman) 20/34 vs serbs (ulysisgrunt) 39/35
it was equal until the final turn when a number of rear attacks broke the serbs.

Re: LORDS OF THE BALKANS circa 1305
batesmotel (Latin Greek 21/34 beat bloodphoenix (Catalan) 42/40
The knights were able to kill almughavars faster than the Catalans could kill Latins. The Catalans worked hard with a string attack on the LAtin right flank but the Latins were able to hold it long enough for the knights to cut through the Catalan center and right flank. Thanks for the game.

Re: LORDS OF THE BALKANS circa 1305
Dear friends...
I will not be able to participate in a third round (if any), as I am off on a cruise in the Pacific until late October.
Many thanks

Re: LORDS OF THE BALKANS circa 1305
Battle Result:
Serbs (bloodphoenix) 34/35 vs
Epirotes (Ulysisgrunt) 40/40
The numerous Serbian lancers are formidable, and Ulysisgrunt deserves praise for coaxing the maximum performance
out of Epirote troops that unit-for-unit, were often weaker than their adversaries. I honestly expected to be defeated
right up until the final turn.
In the end, the incredibly close, tense fight was decided more by mischance and the ferocity of individual fighting men
in the ranks than by any superlative Generalship.
Thanks for a nail-biting game!

Bulgarians (fogman) 19/34 vs Byzantines (batesmotel) 34/34
Bulgarians will win this type of matchup if their lancers' rear is protected.

It looked grim for the Epirotes for much of the game but in the end numbers told. Thanks for a good game.

Hi,
I seem to have a single outstanding challenge for Round 2. Do I need to do something different?

latins (fogman) 14/34 vs catalans (iandavidsmith) 40/40
the latins stayed compact and did not allow the catalans to envelop them.

serbs (fogman) 19/35 vs epirots (jocaramiro) 45/40
the byzantine heavies crushed everything in front of them but they got into the fight too late as everything around them crumbled.

Re: LORDS OF THE BALKANS circa 1305
My apologies to all for my disappearance.
My 82 year old mother had to have surgery, and I needed to travel to
Omaha, Nebraska to care for her and Dad while she recovers.
She's doing well.
I have my lap-top with me, but finding free WiFi in this city is not as easy
as I thought it would be...Seattle has spoiled me.
Its about 1972 in my parents house (down to the rotary phone) but
I've paid to have an Internet connection added, so anticipate being
back up and running by Friday 10/03. Thanks for your patience!

Re: LORDS OF THE BALKANS circa 1305
The Serbians and Bulgarians make for an interesting match-up with their similar numbers of Superior Lancers...
iandavidsmith kept me on my toes for the whole game, but the Serbs eventually gained the upper hand.
Thanks again for an exciting game!
