Pjfrigate should change is name to pjnemisis all 4 games we played where won lost or drawn on the last move all with horrific casualties all cracking games ! And I'm sure Burgot and wegeberg will have a big say in this league yet

As I see this is still moot point. I was under the impressions that the majority is with me in this. BUt as the majority seems to condone or even approves this this style of play I have to accept it. At least now I am prepared for it. Too bad in most of my running games the my trucks are on the other side of the map. Would have loved to send some convois into battle now :P
Even though KingT puts out some good points I remain an opponent of the trucks drawing op fire. I get the point concerning if one is a good player then the truck tactic shouldn't make a difference but it does. Take, two players being equal in skill in a tight battle, defender does everything right, including setting op fire and all units supported, this tactic can make all the difference in the immediate area and turn the balance of the game. Also disagree with the thought that if the game allows it then we just should live with it. Until such time as a programming solution is found my only advice is for someone posting a challenge or a tournament organizer to post the rules beforehand.

There are a lot of guys who love using this particular tactic and I say let them have fun, playing amongst like minded individuals. For those that don't like the tactic play with like minded folks.

I think it's really no big deal, and it's not cheating as long as everyone is doing it.

a truck approaching towards whatever objective know it's empty and therefore "safe"? Or would it simply prefer to fire at it?

Some do it with trucks, others with other units, but we all make moves supposed to draw that fire so that other units can maneuver at the same time and get in better shooting positions. (Say you have to face 6 tanks with at least 2 reactive shots each, you'd not attack them as easily as you would attack them if they only had 1 shot each, right?)

Now, I think that if someone loses the game because it fell pray too many times to the truck-attack thing, then the game was less likely to be a winner in the first place.

There are simple ways to deal with truck attackers, such as setting a hold fire on tanks that are unsupported. The best way is, of course, supporting them with infantry so that truckers can't attack :)

In short, I don't mind this thing, and I don't think it destroys the game. I value trucks and transports a lot, maybe more than others and use them for a variety of purposes during a game (can't tell you more as it's a my-troops-security matter :), some of it is obvious, some isn't :) ), with truck attacking being the last thing that I want to do with them.
King,

You make some good points and I can attest that you are a skillful player and there's much to learn from you (in fact I'll be PMing you later to try and set up a challenge) but at the end of the day I believe your argument boils down to "if the game mechanics allow it the deal with it". My argument is that the Wehrmacht was never truly mechanized and even in 1944 the Allies had severe supply issues and trucks were worth their weight in gold. In all seriousness if I was a truck driver and ordered to drive in the face of those 6 defending tanks you mention I would try to kill the person giving those orders or desert.

Don't know how difficult it would be to program this but for armor there should be a reaction shot with the vehicles installed machine gun(s) against soft targets and a reaction shot allowed with AP against vehicles. This would mean that HE against infantry or AT guns could only be ordered during a player's turn, not as a reaction but think that would be a good compromise.

Only other way around this is for a challenger to post the particular rules of his challenge before hand. It's not cheating if the game mechanics allow it and an agreement isn't made before hand.

Jandrenoville - avisnigra67 (germans 4 flags) v collier4 (french 0 flags)

Orp Le Petit - collier4 (germans 1 flag) v avisnigra67 (french 3 flags)

No better news (for me - lol) in the last game, with avisnigra67 holding 4 flags. Will post screenshot once last move finalised. Congratulations and well played avisnigra67!
