Charge in the Rear, conforming

The following situation came up in a game.

A BG of Spear were charged in the rear by a unit of LH. The LH charged on an angle. The LH was in Column.

That was initial contact. With the LH being on an angle.

SO nothing happens (conforming wise) in the impact phase. Then the maneuver phase takes place. Since it is the LH players turn the Spear will conform to the lead LH and assume the new angle (the spear has no other melee opponents). Does the whole spear line reform, or just enough to get contact and 2nd rank?

After the spear the LH fills in.

If it is the LH player's turn, the LH conform to the spear.
