ATG won't fire
Any ideas why not? Doesn't seem to be damaged, can see target, etc.
Thanks,
Gerry

Hi Gerry!
Has it been moved in this turn already?

Re: ATG won't fire
Out of range maybe? Target visible by another unit but blocked line of sight for the AT gun?

Thanks.
I did move it but that was a few turns ago. I will check again tonight but pretty sure range and LOS OK. If still a problem I will do a screenshot when the scenario is over (my opponent doesn't need any more help!).

Re: ATG won't fire
I have wondered about that too. Why don't ATG's fire at anything else than tanks? In reality the thing will shoot at anything every time the trigger is pulled. In BA1 and 2 even Pak38 does not although it had HE ammunition. Besides, ATG's should be used against fortified targets.
Re: ATG won't fire
This seems to be my problem as it was able to fire at a tank. But I agree with Stechkin. I thought AT Guns had HE ability also?

Re: ATG won't fire
Some AT guns have an HE ability - it depends on the calibre. Small calibre guns could not fire HE rounds so were basically large bullets and very ineffective against infantry. Larger calibre guns were equipped with HE rounds. Usually the cut off is about 50mm.
Re: ATG won't fire
Thanks Iain. I noticed in another MP that an ATG did fire at infantry. May have been a Russian 45mm?
BTW is there anyway I could check that now in an on-going MP game without messing up anything. It seems it is not possible to review an earlier turn in an MP game. I think this would be a nice feature to add. While waiting for a turn one could look at the state of the map and units.

Following this logic AT-rifles should not be able to target infantryIainMcNeil wrote:Some AT guns have an HE ability - it depends on the calibre. But they where used on infantry as small calibre AT-guns where used on infantry too.

Pak38 had HE ammo.

Re: ATG won't fire
The AT rifles are very weak against infantry but much easier to aim at a small target than an AT gun. You could argue that everything could fire at everything with some tony chance of success but we try to limit it to things that make sense.
Re: ATG won't fire
But soldiers on the field will use whatever is at hand. Also the Matilda II, an infantry tank, didn't get HE ammo into well into the war by design. This meant it was design to shoot 40mm solid "bullets" at enemy infantry. Also the PaK 36 had the 3.7cm Sprgr.Patr.34 HE round. Prehaps a system had had the unit use up more of its shots to target things it not made to fight. In the case of AT inf and AT guns have them only able to make one shot at INF.IainMcNeil wrote:The AT rifles are very weak against infantry but much easier to aim at a small target than an AT gun. Re: ATG won't fire
The way ASL handled weapons with AP and no HE (IIRC) was to give it some HE Equivalency value but only if firing at infantry in building, behind stone walls, etc. I assume the blast would explode part of the wall and could then do some damage.

At least in close combat they should be able to inflict a little bit of damage. Those crews where not unarmed.

If they are assaulted they can kill enemy units.
