BA2 Western Front Army Lists for Skirmish

This mod is starting the process of porting the Battle Academy units into Battle Academy so players can play skirmishes with Western Allied forces. Users of this mod must have an updated copy of the original Battle Academy because the mod uses textures and graphics from the original.

This mod offers over thirty custom German and Western Allied Army lists to use in your skirmish games. The first release includes units from Operation Market Garden. See below for the complete unit list. I will be working on adding units from Normandy in the next update.

Step 1. Go into the original Battle Academy's folders to /Battle Academy/DATA/BATTLE/UNITS. There will be a big list of .TXT and .S4F files. Copy all of these files and paste them into the exact same corresponding directory in Battle Academy 2. Some of these units are used already in BA2 so I wouldn't overwrite existing files.

Step 2. Go into the original Battle Academy's folders to /Battle Academy/DATA/BATTLE/UNITTEXTURES. Again, copy and paste these files into the exact same folder in BA2. Again, it is probably not a good idea to overwrite any of the existing BA 2 files.

Step 3. Download the mod file at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0HEHN ... sp=sharing

Step 4. Extract the folder entitled 'Great_Ajax's_Western_Front_Army_List" to DOCUMENTS\MY GAMES\BA2\CAMPAIGNS

Step 5. Extract the Squads.csv and MASTER_SQUADS.xls files to Battle Academy 2/DATA folder and you will overwrite the existing files.

Step 6. Run BA2

Step 7. Pick Skirmish

Step 8. Click ADVANCED

Step 9. Click USE DEFAULT DATA. This will bring up a list of your installed campaigns and mods. Choose Great Ajax's Western Front Army List

Step 10. You can now pick your and your opponent's army list for the skirmish

I believe that you can also copy and paste the Great Ajax's Western Front Army List folder in your DOCUMENTS/MY GAMES/BA2/MULTIPLAYER and use these lists for multiplayer as well. Your opponent will have to follow all of the above steps as well. I have not tested this.

I have tested all of the army lists included and they all work.

There doesn't appear to be any issue. They are spreadsheets and I didn't touch the BA2 data. I just added data to the bottom of the spreadsheet. If there are issues with the spreadsheet, the game will crash. These modified files run clean and you can still play BA2 normally with all of the original units.

Just tried a skirmish with the 101st Para (Holland)

Lots of British units mixed in, and there seems to be an abundance of Bazooka's for some reason.

Also - some units can move VERY far.

The Americans fielded bazookas with everything and these lists include some british units to simulate joint operations between the airborne and 11th Armoured and Guards Armoured.

I got Steam version of BA and all modules and BA2. I did the sequence and i can play in Skirmish with the units but i can't play MP games of BA2. The game crashs when i select MP option in Game Menu

You have to double the army names into the Multiplayer folder in mydocuments

Ah - just spotted that you are overwriting the game install. This isn't a good idea - patches will either break your mod, or the mod will break the patches That said shipping out a campaign containing the assets from the first game is a little problematic from a copyright point of view. I will see what we can work out

There is a lot of units that don't come along. Like the french, sherman Jumbo, German Brumbaer. Also had to copy the metz files in to get the buildnings. So two questions:
1. how to get all units to BA2?
2. how to get the artillery damage on the ground?

Agree with you, I want to use the good feature of BA2. Why not give us a script that fix this for us.....

I really think that the BA1 unit should be avialable in BA2 (at least for people owning the previous opus). This is something Slitherine should have done.

They are in a slightly different format with a different look and feel and do not match which is why they are not included. If we did anything official we would have to rebuild all the models and textures.

no backward compatibility! That is bad. I see those game as miniature games I bought western miniature and eastern miniature so I have the right to use my western miniature against the eastern miniature. Please, take this into account when making new move.
