I miss my Desert and Normandy campaigns.

Yeah, I prefer Western Front to Eastern as well.

But I don't think you can necessarily 'port' BA1 to BA2. From my understanding though people can mod the Western Front units in. Presumably they could then begin to add campaigns etc.

Hopefully Slitherine will release a Western Front pack with all of the bells and whistles though. :)

You can bring the units across but not the missions - these all need to be rebuilt as BA2 is so different unfortunately.

How about terrain and objects? Can they be moved over as well?

We have worked hard to try and keep the asset formats compatible, so terrain and objects should work.

Cheers

I fooled around with importing BA units into BA 2 yesterday. I first merged the BA and BA2 unit data csv and xls files and copied and pasted over the unit txt and s4f files. I made a mod for army list that includes British paras but the textures were missing and I have no idea how to fix that. So, if there is any advice or guidance on how to make this happen, that would be really cool.

Hi Trey,

Textures are .dds files. They are located under the battle academy folder in Data/Battle/UnitTextures

Hope that helps.

John, that was a step in the right direction. Once I ported over those files, it fixed the texture problem. Now, I am trying to solve another data spreadsheet unit merging issue.

Note that you can either replace or merge the two unit list (UNLIKE BA1). If you have a local unit list it is added to the default one from the game, but if you make the first cell contain #REPLACE then it will be using in place of the default game one.

I'm kind of just flailing around in the dark. I can get the BA Core units to show up in BA2 but not the EXPACK ones. I tried copying all of the BA units into the Squads.CSV file in BA2 and I get some error now - Max_Squad_Template_File_Name&&"Icon name too long ..."

EDIT: I think I'm working out the spreadsheet issues. I ran a custom British Para Company versus a Panzer Lehr Company in BA2 and it worked well.

Ok, obviously we can't get the campaigns.

How can we get the BA1 units into BA2 to play skirmishes?

I've got it working now. I'll have a Western Front Mod Army List available over the weekend.

There is a lot of units that don't come along. Like the french, sherman Jumbo, German Brumbaer. Also had to copy the metz files in to get the buildnings. So two questions:
1. how to get all units to BA2?
2. how to get the artillery damage on the ground?
