I'm near the end of the Caucasus mission, where the objectives have changed to "demands you place the Axis banner over the Caucasian mountain top". The only objective left is in the "'High Mountains (12,8), but I just can't seem to get there.
There doesn't seem to be a land route - infantry can move around, but not onto the objective hex.
I've already used (and lost) the Para-tank that you are given at the start of the scenario. I have purchased paratroopers, but I cannot land them on that hex. (There are no enemy units around.)
Does anyone know how to grab that objective?

Re: Afrika Corps - Caucasus "High Mountains"?
I haven`t actually played this scenario, but have you tried using mountain infantry (gebirgsjager)? Normally they should be able to access high mountains. Also, although I haven`t tested it, it`s worth trying gliders if you have any.

This hex can capture any infantry not having transport.robtoe wrote:Does anyone know how to grab that objective?
Re: Afrika Corps - Caucasus "High Mountains"?
Ground vehicles can't move onto high mountain hexes, so make sure your infantry on foot has no transport attached. You can get rid of attached transports on owned city flags, possibly need to wait two turns on recently captured ones. Mountain troops with the alpine movement type move like on Clear there, while leg and bridge movement type among infantry units require all movement points including hero-bonuses.
Re: Afrika Corps - Caucasus "High Mountains"?
Thanks for all the quick replies - much appreciated!
Turns it is was indeed the transport attached to my infantry. When I "upgraded" to remove the truck, they could access the mountain hexes the next turn.
This begs the question about proper treatment for this scenario. As we're all aware, there is a toggle for transport-attached units, and the advantages/disadvantages are pretty clear. However it isn't intuitive for me to see the "walking" representation of the infantry and yet the unused truck was not allowing them to climb mountainous terrain.
I suppose Slitherinine could have made the truck toggle unavailable while in certain terrain, and thus it is automatically "left behind" when they enter. That might have been confusing as well though.
Anyway, thanks again - great community here!
