I'm pretty sure Teutonic Knights will be popular.
I would be interested myself in building an army of them with the beautiful Newtestudo minis :D

There are some really rather interesting and different armies in these lists. They are quite different in character to the DBM ones too.

Personally I will probably get a Byzantine at some time and perhaps Polish.

It will be the Serbs for me, then Byzantines. FoG have done the best research of all the ancients rule books when it comes to Eastern Europe and have done these periods and cultures justice.

For decades have I argued about the composition of the Serb medieval lists and the fact their knights numbered high and they had heaps of German, Italian and even Spanish allies.

Will have to wait a while for the eternal empire book but have my hands on the Swords and Scimmitars which has the middle Serbian lists so will dust off the cobwebs, put the armies of Ptolemy to the side and bring in the thunderous hoofs of the cavalry back on the table.

i made a later Hungarian army for DBM.. i have yet to field it.. well.. i did borrow some troops an played once.. I have the army.. Im sure ill have to ajust a little.. But im waiting for that.. and the poles.. really any of the eastern european counties im interested in.. You can morph armies pretty easy there. Im wondering if the Hungarians can take a french ally in 1396.. i cant rem the name of the battle.. The frenchies really screwed up things against the Turks.

If they are anything like the beta lists - Polish and Lithuanian are quite interesting.
Lithuanian have all singing all dancing LH (javelin, light spear, swordsmen) and Poles have mixed BG of knights and xbow cavalry

Whoops - not Amazon's fault - wrong set of lists

Still I can't wait for Swords & Scimitars and Immortal Fire.

PS - When will we see the Indian lists?

I have my hands on Swords and Scimmitars already. Supplier has confirmed that Eternal Empire will be available in May. Have it on pre-order already.

mate of mine played at a games tore on Sunday and had 4 new people join the chase for more books. They observed a exhibition game and really enjoyed it. havent seen so much hype since the release of Flames of War.

Im going to build a black army for the "Later Hungarian" - just cause the name and the history behind the army and the ideas.

But it's certainly a tough call between that and the last Byzantines, because as everyone knows they have the best story arc possible - there's no hope of winning and you know you're doomed but you try anyways. Also how the last emperor dies is pretty "intense" - you'd think they'd make a movie on him...

Certainly under DBM any player taking a Hussite Army to a tournament should be tarred and feathered. Under FOG they should be somewhat less boring for both players.

Catalan Co has always called me. Esp. now since Eureka now makes Amulghavars in 15 & 25mm.

But yes all of them call me, pretty much my favorite period in my favorite part of the world

later hungarian gallery

Post by expendablecinc »

My first 15mm army was later hungarian and I played it exclusively until I had my second one painted two years later. Its been great to play and can be played lots of ways due to the variety of troop types available. I'll be interested to see if it stacks up under FoG.

The commentary along with the gallery is in dbm speak but I need to freshen it up as this was my first 15mm painting attempt too so the ones Ive added later (since the pics) are a bit better. My camera is better too.
