As I restarted campaign I noticed unit spamming that I didn't report before. First scenario is Fall Weiss. While it is not insurmountable it is certainly unnecessary and annoying. Especially since Warsaw is already entrenched to the max.

I will report unit spams as I go on with scenarios.

In the el alamein scenario it says: "...23 tanks must survive..."
Does this mean 23 of your core unit tanks only? (I dont have 23 tank units!), does it include the italian auxiliary tanks?, does it include the italian auxialiary ant-tank unit, the italian artiliary units infantry and artiliary). thanks for info.

23 tanks must survive, that includes core and auxiliary tanks under German and Italian flag; other classes of units do not count.

@Timek.

I did some analysing...

The following is the screenshot in the editor of Fall Weiss, of the same area as the screenshot you posted.

Image

My screenshot shows the situation at turn 1 of the scenario. What went eventually wrong - related to your screenshot - ?
1) The AI spawned an additional AT and AA unit, which in the beta v1.0 i send you, is no longer possible; maximum spawn can only occur if the last PL core and/or PL auxiliary is destroyed.
2) The cavalry units i encircled in red, had a faulty trigger. The fault laid herein that they were joining the defenders as posted on your screenshot. This should no longer be the case, they should now be counter attacking together with the 7TP and TKS tank.

I hope this solved the mystery.

In other scenarios the so-called wagon trains could still occur, but only with units that were placed in default mode (=either attacker or defender). If default mode is defender, then they move from AI turn 1 to the nearest AI primary hex.
If default mode is attacker, then they will move towards the nearest player primary hex, so that rules wagon trains out.

Alright :) I kind of understood what you are saying. So no update this time? My comments on the points:

1) AI spawned additional AA unit. I also noticed one spawn near Warsaw. It was an AT unit in fortification. Enough to delay me for 1 turn. As noticed AI didn't loose all his core units, and spawns occurred anyways. Albeit only 2 of them. It isn't such a big problem if proper strategy was used.

2) I think that happened because I attacked that city with 2 of my infantry from the north-east (two remote aux units). That attack came around turn 25. I actually lost those 2 infantry units in the counterattack and didn't achieve anything with that attack. After that remaining AI forces probably joined to defend the city anyways.

The bottom line is I had faulty strategy around Warsaw (for the second time in the row). I attacked Warsaw head on, and it took me almost 15 turns to root the defenders out. What I should have done instead is to deploy bridge engineering units to the south and I should have encircled Warsaw from behind. Then I should have destroyed Warsaw AA and bombed the hell out of Warsaw artillery and Modlin fortress.

I shall do that today. In that way I will probably spare around 5 turns, and this eastern city shouldn't be such a big problem.

Oh yeah, the updated file...forgot. The only correction there are the cavalry units going to attack, not going to settle around Brest.
Effect kicks in when loading last savegame of Fall Grün and then start Fall Weiss.

The latest update for FallWeiss finally rooted out spawns :D

I was able to get a MV at the last turn. It is a hard scenario even without the spawns. No doubt about it.

Also I lost 2 tanks in the process, but mostly to my rushing mistakes. Good thing I put reform units (as suggested). What I hated are the pillboxes scattered around the map. So what happened to me is that by retreating my units from zone C west, I accidentally put my weak armored tanks near pillboxes and they got destroyed in one turn!

So many things to take care of in these scenarios. I think I played FallWeiss for about 4 hours total.

The good thing is that by playing LoV I develop patience for doing things :)

@Nikivdd

I've noticed that in Fall Weiss there is option to buy PzIVC. However after that in first bonus scenario as well as in Finland scenarios there is no option to buy that tank any more. Only PzIIIE.

ooops;

scenario 'operation agreement' , the one where you have to use just two chosen units. i can get a MV i.e. can defend three of the depots but not all four. thanks

Oh I remember that scenario. Well if that is the only scenario where you cannot get a DV then you are doing great! :) I usually get MV in LoV scenarios. They are pretty hard so I'm satisfied by minor victories usually.

As far as that scenario goes, you want to deploy ALL your SE units in it. The problem is there is only 1 or 2 deployment hexes (if I recall well enough). So you have to deploy your SE units in several turns one after another and rush them ASAP to help other defenders. To be honest I don't see why there only 1 or 2 deployment hexes other then to prevent you from deploying your SE units properly which is kind of a design flaw. Also you have to try to cover all your depots by artillery ASAP. Additional advice would be to try to force surrenders on as much as British units as possible so you don't have to destroy all of them.

AHA! i didnt realise you use your bonus units on it, hence i could only get MV with the two units and the aux ones already there. many thanks.

Scenario Dunkirk (Dinamo) has logistical issue. There is a need to sink all allied transport ships for a DV. However on sea player is only given a submarine and 2 speed boats. Each speed boat has 2 ammo without the possibility to rearm. There are about 20 transports. So basically the only feasible option of destroying transports is by strategic bombers.

Could there be an option to have at least one destroyer instead of a speed boat? Just for the ammo sake. I hope that wouldn't shake the scenario logic too much. Or maybe 6 strategic bombers that I have right now will do the deal.

I've played this on the .02 Version of LoV and got a DV. Dunkirk is winnable by using your Planes. You have to have a decent sized Luftwaffe (Air Force) and take air superiority....then you bomb the ships till they are gone. Get the Capital ships first and then worry about destroyers. Save your subs and "speed boats" as you call them, for minor fighting. I think based on Historical records...the German Navy were kept away during that portion of the fight. It was mostly a land/air battle and England had a bigger Navy patrolling that area as they evacuated Dunkirk. One key to getting a DV is getting the Air Superiority quickly and getting the "lone airport" to the north under your control as quickly as possible. That helps with re-fueling and getting your planes used in a wider scope of the scenario. Hope that helps. (I don't want to see Nikivdd do too much to take the "toughness" out of the game. Working with the specific strategies in each scenario is the FUN part of it all.) :) - Looking forward to a future upgrade to 1.0 before I tackle this campaign again. (I got 1/2 way through it, took a break...and went back to GTPG mod for a while.)

@brdrumz

I agree with you. Well I just mentioned that as a interesting fact of the scenario design. Nikivdd doesn't have to do anything about it. He already changed the mod way too much due to my advice. And I am grateful for that.

Although to be honest, the previous change of Dunkirk that I proposed (reducing the number of AA units) was pretty much necessary. There where too many AA units (I believe 7-8 of them in the city itself). Lot's of them had crossfire potential and combined with 4 forts it was basically almost harder then Sevastopol at that stage. Now with 2-3 AA units the scenario is much more winnable.

I would go for enemy destroyers first if I have submarines at my disposal. Capital ships are no threat without destroyer escorts if you got a single sub unopposed bubbling around. You only need to protected it from enemy aircrafts with a plane sometimes.
As tweaks, I've increased the experience and strength of the e-boats to 200/12 there. 1st and 2nd S-Bootsflotille, which was active there with at least submarine U-62, was already experienced enough thanks to the Norway campaign.
