BA2 modding question

Post by zasgard »

posted this in the BA forums...whoops...anyhoo!.....

I'm not a modder, but will modders be able to mod US, Italian, Japanese, British tanks/guns/infantry in BA 2?

Will we be able to make up our own scenarios with an in-game editor?

For instance, let's say Modder Dude make a boat load of Japanese tanks/infantry and US tanks/infantry, can we load in those mods, pop open a map and play with those modded units in BA 2?

Thanks

So, I'm totally blind.....is there a tutorial on how to mod in BA2 anywhere?

I'm a TOTAL noob....I've never done any modding, ever. So, with that being said, am I better off letting the modders create stuff or can a "less than a novice" give it a go?

I'm basically looking to "add" in all the units I can for Japan, Italy and any units not in the game for Russia, England, Germany and the US

Thanks for any advice, tips and feedback.

Modding for BA2 is very similar to the original game. So starting with the stickies in the viewforum.php?f=105 Scenario Design forum is the best bet. Added to that is the modding section on the BA wiki. http://www.slitherinebravo.net/GameWiki/doku.php

Additional docs and most of the changes are documented on the BA2 dev wiki: https://sites.google.com/site/battleacademy2/

That should get you started.

Thanks a ton Pip!

Lots of reading I see

I'm going to throw this out there and see if it sticks. Is there ANYONE out there who would care to take the time to throw up a youtube video tutorial on how to mod a 3D tank?

I'm such a visual learner and thought maybe if someone was kind enough to take the time to put together a small video tutorial on how to mod a single unit and how/where to save it....it would be so helpful to someone like myself and other newbie modders.

Thanks

My thought is that there are very few (perhaps even only one!) players that even know how to do 3D graphic work to create new unit types.
It is quite involved and unless you have some pre-existing 3D graphics work experience, nearly impossible to engage in unless you are a computer-whiz. JMHO. The best I was able to do in BA1 was change the camo coloring of some of the German units, but I did that without modifying the base 3D models.
