I have an Amazon email putting the delivery back to June. Before all the complaints come in, I would like to say how pleased I am that these books are selling so well that they are difficult to get hold of. Far better a couple of weeks waiting than no-one buying them. :D

I think there were also a numner of similar messages about the original rules and lists, but they (mostly?) came through roughly when expected in the end.

What may be happenning is that if you are bundling your preorder with the army books that are being released later in the year they may have adjusted the shipping date to send all the books you've pre-ordered together. At least that's the way it looks for me at Barnes and Noble where I have the books pre-ordered.

I got exactly the same message - both books were delayed until June, therefore splitting up wouldn't do any good :(

Are they available from Slitherine direct. I will need those books as I need to do list checking :(

Just checked my Amazon account. It still pretends that I will get my book on April 24.
Maybe I am special? :D

I hope your right about the books selling. I have been to a few large bookstores here in my city and none have sold since they first arrived back in Feb. I wonder if the other stores are the same? I think the initial enthusiasim may have been overblown by good marketing and name recognition. It will be interesting to learn the real market penetration of actual gamers. I fear that these books will go in the bargain bin an a few months. On a positive note I would buy another copy for $4.99. Not a jab at anyone just an observation. I sincerely hope these rules do well and catch on because I enjoy the system very much. The store in question is Chapters Canada, so if your looking for books I would recomend them.

I have had an email from amazon uk giving early June as a delivery date for immortal fire, too. Hoping it's not really delayed!

My observation re the takeup of FOG by ancient wargames players locally is it's patchy so far! Those that like it are those that persist past the first few games that are longer due to rulebook consultations and players who always had problems with the minutiae of DBX and it's "atomised" nature. Strangely, some convinced original DBA players see it as a return to the essential apparent simplicity of conception of that system but with the need to buy more figures!
Some that have tried and don't enjoy it so much have said, apart from the time investment in learing new rules, it's too different from DBX which they've committed to for 10 years or so and seen evolve into a system they feel has realism and playability. A couple see it as a move backwards towards the reaction tests and dice rolling of WRG 6th rules.
A few are put off by it being a generic "ancients" ruleset, preferring rules which are more specific and don't permit players to fight non-historical opponents.

And today (April 11) Immortal fire is available for immediate purchase on Amazon.co.uk, so it looks like it is being released right on time... as were the main rule book and the first two army list books.

On the one hand, it is great to see such eagerness and enthusiasm for FoG. The fact that folks are eager to get their hands on the new army list books must be gratifying to the authors and publishers. On the other hand, I really do hope that we aren't going to have to go through this sort of angst about Amazon on the list every single time a new FoG army list book is released.

Cheers,
Scott

Lucky you  - I've yet to find a copy on a bookshelf in the North of England
Is this because of high sales or low take up by nation chains?

I have not seen any in a UK book store but I did see them on the shelves of nearby games shop where they were having trouble keeping them in stock as they were selling like hot cakes. It could easily just be the new and sexy thing making them sell but the shop in question was very happy with sales.

Are these books being sold in any of the big chains here in the States?
