Nigel,
Is it not a bit dangerous to play Alasdair while your driving him up to Manchester especially as Paddy will be in the car with both of you.
Can not see how else your going to get there play him and then Simon and have time to watch Ben when he gets there in the evening. Unless of course you not expect either of your games to last very long!!

STOP PRESS
Nigel and me have come up with a great idea between us.
Samuraied Dog Productions are running a "competition within a competition" to see who scores the most points against the hoof meister incarnate. And no Nigel, I don't think hiding all your warriors in forests and flank marching your mounted for a 10-10 is a viable option - especially for game one which ends technically at midnight!
The prize - which almost makes up in prestige what it lacks in tangibility - will be the title "Speedbump of the Year 2014".

Hunter, I see your plan. You are going to lie down right in front of Alasdair's mounted so they can find no way through to your army. No fair.

Aye out of period like your new army. Marlburians masquerading as League of Augsburg. Still you had your own valid reason - Dixon were a lot cheaper than Lurkio. So historical accuracy goes out the window.
Just hope you do not run up against Simon this weekend!!

I've seen Simon's figures and they are VERY nice - well worth what they costmarshalney2000 wrote:Dixon were a lot cheaper than Lurkio. So historical accuracy goes out the window.

Nigel, I have plan for you. When you stop at a remote motorway services and Alasdair goes to the toilet. Phone up the police and report him for suspicious behaviour in the gents before speeding off. A weekend in the cells should reduce his chances of winning and give the rest of us a chance. With a conviction, Don Avis might even over take him in the rankings unless we can get him charged too on a trumped up charge.

Re: Tadaa! Britcon 2014 R&R plus Nemesis Challenge Matches
Thanks for the quasi vote of confidence John, but this weekend I'm there as a tourist to make up the numbers!
My choice of army wasn't dictated by the knowledge that it was a winner, but rather by a lack of practice (only 3 games since Roll Call in early June using Scots Royalist when I was ridden down by cavalry on billiard tables!). I haven't had a practice and as I didn't want a drubbing, I picked (for me) a safe choice. Given time I would have practiced with Hawaiians(!), Anglo Dutch and Spanish!
I "won" Roll Call at 25mm by being the make-up player and as it was the only army I had left, my tactics with early Swedes were simple - line them 'em up and let 'em go and let the dice decide!! Lucky
This year, I'm happy for a top half finish - my top 5 (in no particular order except for 1st) is : -
1) Alasdair
2) Jim G
3) John M
4) Ben J
5) Simon the Aussie (aka The Great Submariner - last on day 2; 3rd on day 3!)
Nigel - if you can lose Alasdair, someone else will win but it will be a fake victory!
No Nemesis challenge for Friday for me, so I guess with my luck I'll get either Ben (he'll thrash me); Keith S (he's getting better and could be a surprise package); Charles M (shit it's Swiss!) or Lynette (a Jap player who really knows how to use them!!! - loaded dice anyone?!).
Anyway - here's to a good weekend with average dice for everyone (except Alasdair - may your dice roll low especially if I'm unlucky enough to play you!!!).
Good luck everyone and remember - it's only a game of toy soldiers!!!
Don
P.S don't forget I'm the umpire and there are no DRS (or RBS) referrals!!!

After reading all this I suspect poor Alisdair will be making a long uncomfortable journey with legs firmly crossed".......and Alasdair goes to the toilet."

It might reduce Alisdair's chance of winning but I bet he finds a way to win even if he is in cells in Stoke and his army is in Manchester...

Re: Tadaa! Britcon 2014 R&R plus Nemesis Challenge Matches
Well I decided to look this morning to see what happened in the Nemesis challenges last night and there is nothing. So did they not happen?
Did Nigel dump Alasdair somewhere up the M6 so he has not arrived in Manchester yet or did Nigel win?
