The battle started when I rushed a dozen MF warbands into the woods where they were met by a line of Armoured Thorakiti and Lancer Cavalry. Impact favoured the Warbands but the Thorakiti and Cavalry held the line and slowly ground the Warbands down until one by one they routed back out of the forest. This gave Londo a considerable early lead. Meanwhile the Lusitanian HF warbands and the remainder of the MF marched around the woods to find the Ptolemaic pikemen. I tried my best to entice the pikes to break formation and chase me but they held firm so I had no recourse but to charge them frontally. Although my warbands were crushed and Londo went even further in the lead, the pikes were now beginning to get strung out and this gave me plenty of rear-charge opportunities. The pikes now started to fold and the battle dramatically swung in the Lusitanians favour. On my last turn I believed victory would be mine but on pressing the End Turn button, a lone battered Lancer unit raided my camp!

All things considered I think a draw is a fair result. Both armies were reduced to a battered bloody pulp. Londo is a very tough opponent.

Sharkall: I guess this means in our finally match I have to storm your defended hilltop after all. Dammit!

sorry to say, but i probably won't be able to help you...looks like i'm going to cave against the master here shortly. saddly, i built an army that had a chance at beating or tieing him if i won initiative, (which i did!) but then i chose a map with some really nasty steep hill terrain...perfect for my warriors. but alas...it WASN'T STEEP HILLS! i missremembered the map and chose a gentle hill terrain, which was perfect for his hoplites...or at least not what i was built for...so i'm dieing fast. better luck to you...sorry Sharkall...we all cheer for the king to tumble!
