BASPM v7.2.2 Crashed

Post by HoberMallow »

Hi,

I haven't been able to get this program to run. I actually had updates installed to v7.23 but when the program starts I hear audio but never get video. I then uninstalled the software, loaded the version obtained from the download link and the software crashed on startup. There is a folder located with the executable that contains crash.dmp, error.log, output_log.txt, and report.ini. Unfortunately I can't figure out hoiw to attach them to this message. I purchased the Gemini Tier this past February but was sick and only recently tried to install it. Please advise how I might proceed. Thanks,

Hello greg,

Sorry to hear about the crash. See if you can put the output_log.txt and the error.log files into a zip file and upload them as an attachment.

Hello,

Thank you for your prompt response, I've attached files error.log and output_log.txt. Please let me know if you glean anything from these files.

As I indicated earlier, I purchased the Gemini Tier Feb 2014. I recently tried installing the program due to personal matters and retirement/relocation back to my home. I received v073.zip from the download link in Feb. I tried migrating from v0.7.3 to v0.7.8 to v0.7.15 to v0.7.23 checking to see if it would run at each install. Each time I received the error "Failed to initialize player Details: Could..... not preload global game manager #0 i=0".

My system is a Dell Precision Workstation 650 w/Dual Intel Xeon 3.20GHz processors, 3 GB RAM, running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3.

Please clarify the installation/upgrade path. If one starts with v0.7.3, what should the sequence be to "reach" v0.7.23.

I like what I've seen in terms of screen shots and YouTube videos, unfortunately I've yet to experience it myself. I appreciate any guidance you can offer.

Thanks . . .

Hello greg,

Thanks for the log files. It looks like the game is being run in 1280x768 but, for the moment, the minimum resolution supported is 1366x768. Can you try again using that resolution or any other 16:9 resolution? Notice that we will include support for 4:3 resolutions in the future.

Regarding the upgrade path, you can either:

1) Do a clean install.
2) Manually install the latest version (0.7.23.1, at the time of this writing).
3) Do not use the update feature in the game's launcher, otherwise the files from 0.7.23.1 will be overwritten and you will be downgraded to 0.7.18.

or:

1) Do a clean install.
2) Upgrade the game to 0.7.18 using the update feature from the game's launcher.
3) Manually install the latest version (0.7.23.1, at the time of this writing).

Hello,

1) what is a 16:9 resolution? please suggest some examples.

2a) you gave two upgrade path examples:

- does the first mean uninstall everything, then install v0.7.3 followed by v0.7.23 or uninstall everything, then install v0.7.23 . . . I assume your reference to manual means download v0.7.23 and then double-click the file

- does the second mean uninstall everything, then install v0.7.3, then use BASPM update feature to get to v0.7.18, then download and install v0.7.23

Here you can find some examples. Notice that 1366x768 is, at the moment, the minimum resolution supported by the game.

Spot on. Uninstall everything, install the base game (0.7.3), then manually download and install 0.7.23. Make sure you don't use the game's update feature afterwards, as that will overwrite your manual 0.7.23 upgrade and leave you at 0.7.18.

Exactly. If possible, try to take this route, but both will work.

Hello,

You mentioned 1366 by 768 to be the "minimum" resolution supported, does this mean either 1600 by 900 or 1920 by 1080 will also work?

Hello Greg,

Indeed, yes, they should work fine. I'm running the game at 1600x900 myself inside the development environment.

Hello,

I installed as recommended; v0.7.3 followed by running the BASPM installer which migrated the game to v0.7.18, then downloaded/installed v0.7.23.

I then set monitor resolution to 1600 by 900.

When I tried to run the game it crashed . . . the error files are attached.

To anyone else following this thread,

The problem was caused by hardware. Luckily Greg managed to run the game on another computer.
