Questions about Russia

Post by bartek74 »

Hi everybody,
Right now i'm plying a game as Axis and I'm in control of Archangielsk, russian port city at north and "Murmansk port" is isolated, will this stop convoys going to Russia?
Second question: i attacked Soviets on 17th of may 1940, one turn just before Soviets should take Baltic states, i made airborne assault on Riga,
by land forces took Kovno and by naval landing i took Tallin, in such situation countries surrenders, but not Baltic states, why? Is just because of the game settings?

Tallinn, Riga & Kaunas are regular cities, not capital cities, so there's no way to trigger a surrender. Plus, without troops, what's the point of surrender?

Hi,
Before Soviets sized those countries they where independent states and those cities where capitals of those countries...... That's the point :-)

These countries were annexed by a neutral USSR, just like eastern Poland, Karelia and Bessarabia. This is scripted in GS. If the Axis attack prior to the annexation then these countries will simply fall, but it will be a breach of the Ribbentrop / Molotov pact. Thus the USSR will be activated.

BTW I've the Axis take these countries back after Russia takes them, does it get full PP from them, as they've been "liberated"? What about Eastern Poland and Syria, if taken first by the Soviets/Commonwealth but re-taken?

In the scenario described by the original poster, I assume the axis would only get half production.

And Baltic states should rise volunteers units for Wehrmacht after their recapture from "neutral USRR" annexion :-)

Please tell me about convoys to Russia! :-) If i capture Archangielsk and have land connection with german land forces, which means Murmansk is isolated, will convoys still go to Russia???

I think this depends on which version your playing, I think I read somewhere that this has changed in version 3.10 (I'm still on version 3.0)

There ARE Baltic volunteers in the game (in one form). "Wiking & Nordland" includes the Estonian division.

You could hotseat the game on 1942 Scenario and march a German Unit to cover Russian Ports to see if the following turns a convoy entered into your Allied side. Best way to figure out what's going on or what is needed to stop the convoys and probably would take about 5 minutes if ...

As for the Baltics, this is a very abstract game.
