Problems with in game sound, and connection drops - Steam
Hello, loving the game, but having a recurring issue.
When I first installed, jumped in multiplayer, everything was fine, then getting connection to server drops within a turn or to frequently.
Now the sound, ingame only, has disappeared. Menu sounds fine, alt tab out fine, ingame, nadda.
Pandora Version 1.4.1
Trying to upload attachment for DxDiag.tx, Pandora.log and PandoraServer.log, but I keep getting the extension txt and log is not allowed.
I can email them to you if you have a support email since the forum is not allowing me to upload attachments.

Hi
If you zip those files you'll be able to attach them to your post.

Quick update, the sound works now, had a conflict in device manager on the onboard sound.

Hmm, nope, launched into mp game hosted by someone through steam, load in game, sound gone.
Alt tab out, sound everywhere, even pandora launcher, but not in game.
Uploded zip file here too

Please check if any third-party application is interfering with the sound:

Re: Problems with in game sound, and connection drops - Stea
Sound seems to work now that I removed the duplicate entry in my device manager.
Still having issue with steam install playing mutliplayer.
Drops connection about every 5-6 turns, pretty consistently.
Any thoughts on the d/c's?

Re: Problems with in game sound, and connection drops - Stea
Are you using a wi-fi network infrastructure?
Re: Problems with in game sound, and connection drops - Stea
Connected directly to ethernet port on D-link DIR-655 normally.
Tried playing for a bit directly connected to the DSL modem bypassing the router, just to rule out an issue with the router.

Re: Problems with in game sound, and connection drops - Stea
Update:
Game runs flawless single player, only have issue with the disconnects in multiplayer.
Plays along for 5 or 6 turns, then hangs, and goes back to the menu, showing [connection lost] message.
Can hit the steam friends list, and join right back in, then repeats, runs for 5 or 6 turns, and same loop.
To note, friend cannot connect to my game, connects, then is booted right out before we start.
I can connect to his game just fine, but get dropped after the 5 or 6 turns.
Playing through steam.
Running windows firewall, added pandora first contact and steam, to open all ports to test.
Also running firewall on the D-link DIR-655.
Have tried connecting directly to the dsl modem, but no change.

Please zip and attach all your logs after crashing.
Re: Problems with in game sound, and connection drops - Stea
Zipped logs in 4th post.
Will post again next crash.
Brief update, launched multi-player game with same friend using tunngle, and game runs perfect, no disconnects, although I did get the sound disappearing once.

Log attached for crash, server, error, and pandora log.
Game running along smooth, then dropped both players and an error window.

Re: Problems with in game sound, and connection drops - Stea
No connection drops since started hosting direct through tunngle, have not tried hamachi yet.
Sound problem pops back up random, restart of computer fixes.
Mixer.cpp:38: __thiscall proxy::audio::Mixer::Mixer(void): Warning: Could not initialize audio system. shows up in the log.
Logs uploaded in last post from last sound dissappearance.
Thoughts on the sound?
Have tried the disable background and start fresh, but works about the same.

Re: Problems with in game sound, and connection drops - Stea
The sound issues seem related with your sound system. Maybe the sound drivers...
Re: Problems with in game sound, and connection drops - Stea
The sound is really less of a concern than the unability to connect through steam.
The sound is fixed by a restart, havent quite ferreted out what causes it, but working on that.
We have connected through steam, I can connect to my friend hosting, he connects to mine in the lobby.
When we launch, if I connect to a game he hosts, we run fine for 5-6 turns, then connection lost, back to lobby, he stays in game.
If I host, he drops on launch, and sits at the initializing game screen.
We direct connect through tunngle, perfect connection, have played entire game without any hiccups.
Tried using the direct connect without a separate server program like tunngle, but have been unable to figure that part out heh.
Any thoughts?

Re: Problems with in game sound, and connection drops - Stea
Have you tried with different opponents? It might be something related with the ISP's...
Re: Problems with in game sound, and connection drops - Stea
Just recently yep, and that must be the problem.
I can connect to others, my friend can connect to others, but for whatever reason, we just cant get a stable game running with each other without tunngle or hamachi,

Re: Problems with in game sound, and connection drops - Stea
You can enquire your ISP's, but this kind of issues are more frequent than we think.Nesh67 wrote:Just recently yep, and that must be the problem.

I have a similar issue with the ArmA2 game... in my case I suspect that it's something related with an ISP company war between competitors.
