Well, now that some of the soviet rocket mission bugs have been fixed, I decided to go on with my original plan of "American spaceships on Soviet rockets".
To sum it up:
1) I faced some early issues with the mercury. Nothing catastrophic, but it delayed the program and this had a lasting effect on my whole manned spaceship timeing down the line.
2) Due to strong Soviet rockets, I was able to do all the work with the RA-7 Vostok rocket before the actual moon mission. For the Moon mission I had to bring the UR-700.
3) The soviet rockets btw worked flawlessly, not one real problem. One or two countdown failures, but that was it and this relaly had no impact on the outcome of my programs.
4) Gemini, once set in motion worked flawless. Because of the Mercury delay, I decided to go for a gemini direct ascent. I simply had too little manned research capacity available given the time Mercury issues took.
5) This time around I managed to set up a really good mission control team, so I wasn't afraid of launching more simple missions at 80 or 81% reliability.
In the end I managed to launch a successful manned lunar landing in the first quarter of 1969. Gemini direct ascent of course.
Overall I had a blast (no pun intended). The game works very well now, I just found a few minor bugs that I reported to Asana.
I think the game is relaly coming out great, at this point I think we should concentrate on getting more variants of the existing missions and maybe a few alternative ahistorical options. More variety means more replayability.

Thanks for the report,
That's one of the things that will make the GSA campaign much more "beginner-oriented" than the other ones
Yes, that's a fact, Soviet rockets were much more powerful, soviet hardware heavy, while american early spacecrafts were lighter. That would be even worse if we calculated to payload gain added by bringing the Soviet rockets on a fictional equatorial spaceport2) Due to strong Soviet rockets, I was able to do all the work with the RA-7 Vostok rocket before the actual moon mission.

Hello Sabratha,
Good to hear you're having fun with the game. We're planning to release another update this Friday with more animations and we're preparing some extra bonus programs that will be shipped before release, so stay tuned!

thanks for the tips, trying them out.
Re: 0.7.20 - GSA playthrough
My tip is this: If you plan to use the soviet rockets+american ships combination, then remember to get a good research team for manned spaceships. I cannot stress this enough - this will take most of your research time.knightrun wrote:thanks for the tips, trying them out.
Another issue - the UR-700 is a heavy rocket. So do not forget to plan upgrades to your vehicle facility, as you will need level 3 to open heavy rocket programs.
Watch out for that early game, mistakes and delays there will wreck your program.
Re: 0.7.20 - GSA playthrough
I think you are going to have fun with the R&D max. and safety settings (mostly concerning rockets/upper stages/modules) I recently implemented.
They will seem - a bit - low to you, but things tend to go well provided you take the time set up a good Mission Control team. Also, I wanted to stress the role of test-flights. That's what those uncrewed missions are for !
