In the spring of 1450 the last act of the Hundred Years War in Normandy was played out. With most troops tied up in garrisons, the field armies were small but their effect decisive. So it was on 15 April when Thomas Kyriell, confident in his strong defensive position and superior numbers, turned to face the French force of the count of Clermont that had been shadowing him. Unbeknownst to the English however, a flanking French force under Artus de Richemont was bearing down on them...

Designer's notes

Kyriell had a strong position but was compelled to send out a strong force to attack Clermont's artillery position, which was successfully carried out. The French under Breze counter-attacked, also successfully. The arrival of Richemont panicked the English cavalry which largely fled the field. Kyriell was forced to retreat to Formigny and the surrounding gardens where his command was annihilated.

The English player has two choices: come out and try to overwhelm Clermont before Richemont could intervene or retreat into Formigny and hold out for the victory points.

Again, victory points are implemented to model a battle that was historically one-sided. They force the English player to press home the attack on the French artillery position, and also encourage him to withdraw most of his cavalry.

73 moving BGs, 22 turns.
