Would it hurt anything to make the bases deeper?

Would it hurt anything to make the bases deeper if I keep the width the same? Many cavalry figures I have just won't fit so I wondered if I could just mount them on deeper bases.

The width is the real key. So long as you have that right, the depth is not as important. I think that is made explicit in one of the appendices (don't have my rule book here at work).

Deeper bases within reason are fine. There may be issues if you have bases that are say 240mm deep but that would look silly anyway.

240mm is a bit more than what I was thinking. I was thinking maybe 50mm rather than 40mm.
