Can Wilhelm Batz's Bf-109K be upgraded?
I've received the SE hero Wilhelm Batz in a Bf-109K but can't upgrade to a Focke-Wulf. Is it possible to upgrade his fighter in later scenarios of GC '45?

If you are playing on a PC you can use the cheat code (control + Alt + Shift +C) and type in
all eqp
This should allow you to upgrade him to other SE units.
When finished, type in the cheat code again to switch it off.
I don't think the cheat codes work on an ipad.

They do. Tap on the "information" (about one unit) button in the interface, when the information window opens tap on the empty space below the unit information and the cheat window opens.

Hang on, how would you type cheats into an iPad anyway?

Usually with my fingers, but there are unusual methods out in the wild ...

@captainjack - Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

The Bf 109k is a great asset to have. You always need a fighter to finish off enemy planes which are down to a few SP. This is where the Bf 109k shines, due to its high initiative, while costing less than a Fw 190 or Me 262 which of course also could do the job.
But if playing on 1.20 soft cap rules, this is a great way to save 200 prestige points on a more expensive fighter while still getting the same results.

I usually use the all eqp cheat to upgrade it for the last 3 scenarios. If you want to keep it as an SE unit then you can only upgrade to a FW 190, which isn't bad.

@mulleto22 - The Bf-109K is a decent fighter but the fuel range is abysmal compared to the Fw190. You really cannot afford the downtime for this unit to return to its airbase to refuel. I'm playing under 1.20 softcap rules and between paying for the upgrade or paying for replacements to casualties, I prefer the first option.

I agree - a unit that is always refuelling is not a lot of use, and it's worse for aircraft once they are more than a turn away from an airbase.jaggy wrote:the fuel range is abysmal compared to the Fw190. You really cannot afford the downtime for this unit to return to its airbase to refuel
In the past few months I've started rating the ability to stay in combat above some combat stats. Usually I consider fuel and ammo, but speed can be important. In my case, I find I can get the sdkfz 10/4 SPAA into a better position to defend units more often than the harder hitting halftracks.
Some time in 43 East combat stats start to become more important than speed (especially in defensive scenarios). But a Tiger 2 with no ammo and no fuel isn't a whole lot of use that turn.
