Troops behind guns behind defenses

If you have a battery of guns behind defences and then a BG behind the guns supporting them. If the guns are destroyed by fire do the supporting BGs move up to the defences?

I'd say No, because they are already there, they don't have to move - the assumption is that the supporting infantry actually occupy the same footprint as the guns but are placed behind as a game mechanic due to the oversized bases of the gun models.

Well, I meant 'yes' as in they must move up to fill the space, not they physically move as a maneuver.
