So uh I updated my copy of pandora few weeks ago and then for some unknown reason I was always out of food and minerals.
I had surplus of exactly zero of both resources and somehow my cities keep on growing instead of starving until it became empty.
I really dunno why that happened. It was only when I finally limped my way into transcendence era that I started to make some food and minerals.
+202 food and +169 minerals a turn in fact.
Was so stupid watching AI growing like weeds while i couldn't build anything. I miss my old copy of pandora at least I know I would starve if I neglected farms or plopped down cities in desert or lacked minerals when I went all out building new military units. I tried to stop loss of food by mass turning land to farms but they didn't do anything.
And then for minerals I rushed to the mountains and built mines in them but they didn't do anything.
And my cities's population just kept on growing despite the obvious lack of food. I eventually gave up and just improved the land whatever how I wanted to. Didn't look like it mattered.
What is wrong with my pandora?

Growth was changed a while ago so that food shortage leads to smaller growth first instead of starvation right away when you drop below 0.0 food.

Re: Constant shortage
That explains it! But what about constant food/mineral shortages until transcendence era? That is really fucked up now considering that messari will show up and ruin your fun at turn 200 and each former on gathering duty only makes like 1 food or minteral whatever u told it to go get. -.- so for -100 i'll need 100 formers. And it feels like the maps shrunk again. Did the devs shrink the maps again cuz xenomorphs went extinct so fast. in fact, they was all wiped out by turn 50ish even on huge maps.Zak0r wrote:Growth was changed a while ago so that food shortage leads to smaller growth first instead of starvation right away when you drop below 0.0 food.
Re: Constant shortage
You need to plan ahead and concentrate on key techs. Minerals and Food buildings are in the first two rows of every era so don't get them too late. Also try to assign special tasks to your cities. A city next to obs should get a lot of field labs and concentrate on research. A city with Xenith or moral bonus should be your production city. A city in the mountains should concentrate on gathering minerals. A city with a lot of grasslands or a food bonus should concentrate on producing food and so on.

I managed to figure out the problem....Zak0r wrote:You need to plan ahead and concentrate on key techs. Minerals and Food buildings are in the first two rows of every era so don't get them too late. 56x56 is too tiny for my play style xD I never had any space for cities at all until i manually changed the huge map's size to 86x86 at least. I'm never running out of resources again except in times of war.
