How do I survive warmongers?
Every time I play this game the local warmonger attacks me almost immediately and slowly picks off my army. I just want to build up cities, but I can't even do that in easy difficulty. How can I defend myself while still maintaining a healthy economy?

I haven't played much lately so not sure how much the latest patches changes the game but here are a few tip that should help you:
- Don't overextend yourself, just build your cities when the population pressure start hurting your morale too much. Try to settle your city at 4 hexe apart and inked them by road so you can easily move your defense quickly. You need solid defense in each border cites, with at least 3 or 4 unit with various chassis and weapon type.
- Warmongers tend to attack the first faction they meet and will be less likely to declare on you if you first meet a peaceful faction. So if you scout around and notice a border of a warmonger without making contact, it's better to turn your scout around in the hope they will meet another player first and declare on them instead.
- Warmonger will outproduce you, so your first war will be defensive. beeline your research to get the following tech asap : Tanks, armor lv 2 or 3, one anti tank weapon, one anti inf weapon, Artillery, first level of city fortification. If the AI spams plane, make sure you grab the AA weapon upgrade to counter them.
- The Ai script usually focus on a particular city and will throw everything they have at it. Once you know which city they are going for, stack your army in it (make sure the fortress building is up). You want to have 2 to 4 piece of artillery in that city too continuously bombard the enemy. As soon as you can get guaranteed victory attack from your city and slowly grind down their stack. Pull back very damaged unit in your second line cities to let them heal. Your goal there is to destroy their army without taking any lose yourself. You will lose improvements, but that's ok you can build them again later.
- Once you destroyed the first AI wave of units you will be able to heal your army and you will have experience unit that will make future war easier. At this stage its also possible to get a peace treaty but the AI will most likely break it so make sure you are preparing for the next war.
- Don't stay too long on the defensive. If you let the AI to reach nukes you are in trouble as they will start nuking your cities one after the other and you will die a slow painful death
So when you have a number or tech advantage go and smash that stupid warmonger. If you successfully invade their territory you have already won the game.
