II Polish corps

Post by Vokt »

May be in future updates it could be included in allies MTO setup this important ww2 military unit. Although created in 1943 during italian campaign it was formed from units that fought in Libya like the 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division which in turn was created from military units formed from polish escaped from german occupation exiled in french Syria. I wonder if the australian corps unit named "7th Australian" referred to an australian division sized unit and deployed in Amman (close to Syria where initially polish forces in MTO started) in allied initial setup could be replaced by a polish corps sized unit. Replacing the australian unit makes sense since although both 6th and 7th divisions were in Middle East at the start of Lybian campaign they were withdrawn to Pacific to fight against the japanese in january 1942.

You can always rename a unit name and call it Polish II Corps. Then the image will change to show Polish. The same about the other UK countries

Yes I know so even South Africa and New Zealand Commonwealth units can be "created" using the renaming feature. But I was referring to the default allied setup as an acknowledgement to the polish fighting in MTO and also for some historical accuracy since the australians although present at the start of the campaign they left soon the Middle East and were redeployed in the Pacific.

Will this unit finally included in 3.10 in the initial allied setup in Middle East?

It sounds like, though, that this unit was only brigade sized by the end of 1940, and would surely just be a component of one of the existing Commonwealth Corps in Egypt? The starting Commonwealth force in Egypt seems large enough to me already

I meant replacing one of the current australian corps in the Middle East by a polish unit.
