Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Thanks guys for the nice words about this new unit! You really make me feel that all the time used in this hobby is worthy!
About this unit name: MTW (Mannschaftstransportwagen) would be ok for the personnel carried versions, and Vollkettenaufklarer 38(t) Kätzchen (also an official designation for this model) would be used for the recon unit.
About its stats: This vehicle was rather well protected, with 50 mm front, 30 mm side and 20 mm rear, well sloped armor, so it can be safely given good defensive values. It was very heavily protected when compared to any post-war APC designs, for example (like M113, etc...) About its mobility I could not find any figures, but to assume an equal value to the Hetzer I think is safe... Attack values should be rather low (same as the basic half track) because it was armed with only one or two machine guns.
Jmac: very clever use of the transport-types systems, I like this approach!
Once again, guys, is a pleasure to collaborate with you in projects like this.
Best wishes!

An update on the Katzchen_Mtw theme...
Very gently, jmacnamara provided an improved base icon /grey regular Wehrmacht icon.
Thanks, pal!

I'm play testing the Kätzchen and it handles really well. Stats are temporary and solely for my own entertainment until rezaf comes up with something definitive:
Efx.dat values on the other hand:

Jmac: Thanks again for completing the data about this new unit!
By the way, I should mention that I included in the pack an alternative SS camo scheme, made with a skin I developed from the pattern gently uploaded by Phcas. Thanks and credits to him!

The Katzchen - more like the tank without a top! Seriously, it looks like the bottom half of a Vickers Mk 6

I forgot to answer you about the marines. Regarding their stats I was thinking something similar to the paratroopers maybe.guille1434 wrote: What would make the Soviet Marines different from infantry stats wise (besides the visual aspect of a different icon of course)?
Overall superior to the rest of the conventional infantry, after all they were somekind of elite units.

Akkula: Good idea, the Soviet Marines can have the same stats as the paratroopers, but of course without the jumping capability, but those stats would be better than regular infantry. To compensate for the lack of parachutes, thay may be given more ammo. It would be nice that game developers implement a new trait, that could be called quite coherently "marines" ("Amphibious Assault" seems to be a rather long string of charecters) that trait would give the unit the ability to disembark in a coastal hex (be a port or not) and to attack (but not move) in the same turn. So they can disembark and assault the defenses, as an opposite to the presnt units that they can only disembark and wait to the nest turn to attack.

Here is my first attempt at making a unit for the Gear Krieg Mod started by Regret... And idea I like a lot!
This unit would be the Maginto Line turret Tesla Guns that were fielded by the Frech to improve the defenses of their fortifications line facin the Germans.
Cheers!

Mhhh, very interesting idea about the "marines trait". I hope they implement it someday.guille1434 wrote:Akkula: Good idea, the Soviet Marines can have the same stats as the paratroopers, but of course without the jumping capability, but those stats would be better than regular infantry. Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Indeed, it would be nice for the developers to implement a bunch of new traits... I have more than a bunch of ideas abouty this matter!
Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
I got some ideas too, but I have my doubts that some more will ever be implemented in the future. They can't even handle their current ones, e.g. in DLC 42/43 West, Messina, they placed a fortress on a port hex. You can ferry it with a landing craft to somewhere else. "It's a feature!"...yeah, whatever. The "notransport" trait is missing on all structure class units to prevent that magic.guille1434 wrote:Indeed, it would be nice for the developers to implement a bunch of new traits... Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Another unit for the Gear Krieg mod... The T-44 super heavy tank, based on the icon already uploaded by Regret...
About this unit, I tried to "correct" something that to me looked as a mistake made by the GK team... The basic version of this tank was called in Gerar Krieg the "T-44/47" stating that its (main) gun was 47mm... In fact the unit model show a much larger caliber weapon (but one with a rather short barrel). It never can be a 47 mm gun. So, I made a "crossover" between the GK universe and real soviet guns used in that period of time, and imagined the early T-44 could be armed with two 45 mm guns in the secondary turrets and a long 76 mm gun (identical to the one used by the KV-1, T-100 or SMK heavy tanks) as the main turret gun. Bearing in mind that the norm in 1939 was mounting a 37 or 40 mm gun on tanks, this gun was fairly large and powerful enough...
To give more flavour to that unit (and a development tree), I developed several variants out of the basic hull:
- T-44/76: The basic, gun tank, early version (main gun identical to the KV-1 tank), as described above.
- T-44/152: Support version of the heavy tank, replaced the 76 mm with a 152 mm howitzer in a bigger (taller) turret. This weapon is the same as used by the KV-2. It was made a switchable unit (direct or indirect fire).
- T-44/122: Later version of the super-heavy tank, mounting a long 122 gun in the main turret (idem to the gun mounted in the JS-2 tank). The same gun had good performance as an AT or a fire support weapon. Also, this unit was made switchable. It also added a cupola on top of the turret to give the tank commander a better outside view.
-T-44T: "Superscience" version, which replaces the main conventional gun with a large Tesla gun.
I hope you like this ideas, and also the first icon of the series. The others are following soon...

Yes, it would be nice that they pay some attention to refine bugs like that... the "notransport" trait is also a useful one...Horst wrote:I got some ideas too, but I have my doubts that some more will ever be implemented in the future. Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Anyone knows if there´s a Polikarpov Po-2 unit made out there?.

As far as I know, there is no proper Po-2 icon out there - only a reskin of an existing ingame plane made by zombiehunter very long ago.Akkula wrote:Anyone knows if there´s a Polikarpov Po-2 unit made out there?.

But... Here is another, brand new icon for the Po-2, that I think is looks more like the real aircraft. I hope you like it! (could not figure how to make it switchable, regreatbly

No, problem pal, it's a pleasure to be able to help... And it will only cost you to tell (if you can/want) whats your idea for the "night witch" version! I am such a curious person!
Seriously, I am very glad that my work is useful to you! No need to reveal the surprises of your planned work...

Re: Guille's PzCorps Support Base - Multipurpose Icons and m
Now it is the turn for an old desert warhorse... A unit that was for a long time in my wanted and "to do" list... The reason was that the stock game icon was not looking very much as the real vehicle. Last, but not least, it was in the top place of the wishlist that Horst gave to me for missing "switchable" units...
The 15cm sIG 33 auf Panzer II (Sf) or, for short Sturmpanzer II... Available in direct and indirect fire modes, and with base icons included!
Enjoy!
NOTE: The files originally uploaded here were deleted, because I released a new version. See this same thread in page 64.
