New Target for Chargers

A BG charges an enemy unit, the enemy evade and expose another enemy unit that the charger contacts. If the contacted unit is able to evade, is it allowed to do so?
If it is allowed to evade are the chargers allowed to continue forward of the point of contact if their variable move roll was not fully consumed in getting to the point of contact?

Presumably this would also apply in the JAP when pursuers fail to re-contact a router?
