Balance issues - artillery and airdefense

Post by Plaid »

Artillery deffinetely need some sort of airdefense (either add air attack or high defense).
Under current 1.42 rules artillery suffers really badly from any bombers and airships(! airship easily inflict 2 damage to artillery), and later from fighters aswell. 3 air attacks almost completely destroy artillery unit, no matter how hard it was entrencheed. And this unit's repairs are expensive thanks to 50 PP price.

Together with lowered artillery damage it looks like better not to produce one at all, instead build a lot of airships and use them for tactical bombing (they are cheaper, much less ammo consuming and can't be intercepted for half of the game - until armed aircraft).

I don't think that mass-producing airships for ground support missions is realistic at all.

And yes, generally idea to reduce artillery power is good, but now starting artillery units have less supression than starting "recon" fighters (1 vs 2; 1 is similiar to cavalry units). So now artillery barely inflicts damage, while battleship units are devastating against ground targets (easily remove 2-3 steps infantry units).

Air power is, in general, wildly OP in C:TGW.

I dread letting a French Convoy enter port safely.... Because the French begin spamming air power. Once I had 4 fighters and 2 bombers against the Poor Germans with 2 fighters and an Airship

It's almost worth it to go uboat crazy to prevent convoys, regardless of America entering, for the French and English air get's too powerful, especially in MP.

Funny you should say that! when someone enters their password to MP, they can select a Commander's picture, which they might think best to represent them. One of those pictures (commanders) is American air force Ace, Eddie Richenbacker (sp ?). This would indicate the possibility of an American air force.
