Black map in zoom in

Post by syagrius »

I had an intermittent problem with the the previous versions but since 1.06 its permanent: when I am in zoom in overview the map is black. I updated my Direct X and video card drivers but with no success and reinstalled and patched the game. CEAW is the only game I have doing this :(

Just to clarify - it is only when you are fully zoomed in that this happens? What is the spec of your PC - maybe its running out of memory? Do you have other programs running when you play CEAW?

Thanks for the fast reply. Yes it is only when fully zoomed, the units are visible its just the map that is black. I have a Pentium IV with 1 GB RAM. The game runs fine, and is stable, I really dont know why its doing this. I turn off everything including MSN before starting the game.

My card is a common one; ATI Radeon 9800 PRO, and I am running Windows XP. After work I will try to change the resolution in Windows just to see if something happens. I guess this is something that have to do with the card drivers.

It's possible this is related to the speed optimisations that were made so we'll look in to it, but it is odd that its only on your PC :(

The 9800 is a fairly old card if memory serves. It might be that the drivers have gotten a little less love than they need. One thing you could try is turning down the level of acceleration on your video card to see if that helps. You can access this by right clicking on the desktop, selecting Properties, then the Advanced tab, then Troubleshoot.

Try seeing if any of the slider levels make any difference. It might help determine the problem system.

Cheers

Is it possible to try another video card, e. g. by borrowing a card from a friend? Then it will be possible to know if the problem is related to the old graphics card or not.
