Deployment Groups, ambushes, flanks
Say I have an army of 9 BGs this means my deployment groups are 3-2-2-2.
How are the BGs used for flank marches and/or ambushes factored into this?
In other words I've made my army list and it has 9 Bgs with a 3-2-2-2 deployment order.
I then go through the terrain set up etc. ect. When I see the terrain I decide on a flank march with one BG and an ambush with another BG. So do I carry on with a 3-2-2-2 deployment and (obviously) not deploying the ambushers and flank marchers or do I re-calculate the deployment groups as 2-2-2-1 based on 9 units minus the two units in ambush/flank marching?
Thanks
Mike

The latter, you deploy 2-2-2-1.mikekh wrote:I then go through the terrain set up etc. ect. When I see the terrain I decide on a flank march with one BG and an ambush with another BG. Re: Deployment Groups, ambushes, flanks
I stand corrected. It is the former. It states in the rules (p146) that (as a result of ambushed or flank marching) "...there may be no battle groups left to deploy in the last batch".neilhammond wrote: The latter, you deploy 2-2-2-1.

The portions are set out by the qty of BGs in your full list.mikekh wrote:The whole deployment grouping still isn't clear to me.
Are specific BGs allocated to the deployment groups before deployment occurs? Or are BGs added 'on the fly', in the correct quantities, as deployment occurs?
The number of BGs are split into 1/4s
The order is specified in your order of march. So at this point practically you know which BG is in which quarter.
So you have BGs, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. At start normally you deploy by quarter 1&2 then 3&4 then 5&6 then 7&8.
But now the game begins.
Any BGs deployed via ambush or flank march are removed from the order of march seqeunce
You put BG 3 in an Ambush. You put Bg 2 and 7 on a flank march.
So you deploy:
1st quarter
1,4
2nd quarter
5,6
3rd quarter
8
4th quarter
nothing.
Does that makes sense?
