Shooting ranges

I have started FoGR at a new club and have been told several times that one unit cannot fire on another unit at both long and short range. This happens when the two are at an angle to one another.
Is this true and if so where does it say this in the rule book?

Hi Bob,

Shooting is done on a base by base contribution. There is nothing (that I can see) that prevent long and short range shooting. However when a BG is within short range , then the arc for the whole BG is down to 1 BW , so long range shooting by the end files is less likely. Is that what you mean?
