Advanced Training and more
I discovered a "problem" at least it's a problem for me and I do not really have a good solution for it right now. The Advanced Training is a horrible horrible chore. Sending several people to advanced training every two seasons feels like a huge amount of time spent on clicking for low results done over and over again... somehow there has got to be a way to streamline and optimize this, especially if lower skill values are being planned and advanced training becomes more important. Maybe some of the people on the forum can chime in with ideas on how to do this or if they just feel the same way. One idea I am thinking of is an advanced training view where only idle employees are visible on the right (seperate for each department) with slots for every kind of training where everybody can be easily be moved to on the left and then one final click for start training. That way one can quickly see who is available for training, easily move everybody to the appropriate training type and then just confirm all at once.
Also in the screens where one can assign researchers to the different projects it would be great to have a way to see their skills so they can be moved around easier. Right now it's a bit cumbersome to find out which guys may need to be switched around when one wants to change priorities. A popup with their skills on mouseover would be great.
And one more: I am a big fan of the right mouse button for easier playing, especially with a lot of windows and clicking to do. A good use would for example be right click on the picture to remove a researcher from a research slot (instead of having to exactly click on the x). There is a lot of clicking to do to optimize everything all the time and stuff like this is important...

Re: Advanced Training and more
I couldn't agree more with your thoughts. I went through a period when I was training nearly everyone a little bit and it was truly unbearable.
I am confident they can tidy some of this up.

Re: Advanced Training and more
2 Soltions
1. give a command that sends everyone to a general adv training skill goes up on every scale but only a small amount this could replace the curreent system
and
2. add on top of that a hardcore general training that only lasts for 1 season but reduces morale but gives 2x what the usual training gives
my 2 cents

Hello,
I agree that planning the advanced training of everyone can become a bit daunting when you have a lot of personnel in your agency, but I don't see an easy solution.
Maybe the ability to select more than 1 personnel at once before assigning them to adv. training would help ? Not sure if the UI is compatible with this, though.

There's a good reason for that : remember that the game has to be compatible with tablets and other portable platformsAnd one more: I am a big fan of the right mouse button for easier playing, especially with a lot of windows and clicking to do. Re: Advanced Training and more
I am very much anti tablet
so thats no reason for me... cant they just punch it or something for "right mouse"? Also why not just include right mouse button functionality for pc and keep it as is for tablets (or have it in the options check/uncheck)? Cant be that much of a hassle... I bet a lot of pc users will enjoy the game a lot more for that. I hate tablets -.-

Re: Advanced Training and more
They could be presented as a table. So instead of the big list of guys to the right and then the highlighted one on the upper left, you'd have a table underneath the highlifted one. The table would list names, stats and current assignment.N_Molson wrote:I agree that planning the advanced training of everyone can become a bit daunting when you have a lot of personnel in your agency, but I don't see an easy solution.

I'm really not an expert in tablets OS but our Lead Developper knows a lot about them. I'll transmit your feedback.I am very much anti tabletso thats no reason for me... cant they just punch it or something for "right mouse"? I must say I'm not sure I fully understand. Could you make a schema, drawing or something like that ? ThanksThey could be presented as a table. Re: Advanced Training and more
Talked to a friend about it today (you know... rambling about crazy stupid tablet world and such...
). He said tablets usually have some kind of a "right mouse" function. Also I am not talking about an exclusive function without which the game would no longer be playable. E.g. to remove people from positions you could still do some left clicks as usual but also have the option to simply right click to kick them.

At the moment, you have it laid out like,N_Molson wrote:I must say I'm not sure I fully understand. Could you make a schema, drawing or something like that ? Thanks
[ individual profile ] [ employee 1]
[hire / manage dept] [ employee 2]
Instead you could have it as,
[ individual profile ] [hire / manage dept]
[ chart of employees ]
The chart would not show their picture, just
Name.......Age StartDate Morale Skill1 Skill2 Skill3 Skill4 Skill5...assignment
John Doe...25...1955.......65......62....41....35.....98...66......train Skill2 ends 1957.2
Jan Smith..35...1956.......92......44....70....65.....55...88......lunar flyby ends 1957.1
Joe Jones...(etc)
and the chart would be sortable, so you could bring all the unassigned ones to the top, or the people with best Skill3, etc. Clicking on the row of John Doe would bring his image up to the top.
Note the listed assignment also has when that assignment ends. This could make it easier to plan ahead. Sometimes we forget who we assigned to advanced study when, or how long we've got to go on some duration mission, so it could be good to know when flight controllers etc will become free. This helps longer-term planning, which is after all part of success in a game like this.
Re: Advanced Training and more
Perhaps it could be beneficial if we could place someone on training and keep him there until recalled? So we woudln't have to go back every 2 seasons to the ground control people who (fresh ones in the later part of the game) need some 1.5 years to become proficient.
I would strongly suggest this, at least for ground control and SET. The constant "advanced training" assignements are easily the worst and most annoying part of the game so far and it can become tedious to a poitn where this harms gameplay experience.

Agree, that would be nice to have the choice to have them on constant training until we need them.Sabratha wrote:Perhaps it could be beneficial if we could place someone on training and keep him there until recalled? Hello,
I've forwarded those remarks to the Lead Developper, we'll see if something can be done and what.
