Load Game issue with version 1.06

I just upgraded to version 1.06 and started a new game. After saving the game I went back to load it and recieved an error that stated "Exception this game was saved in a previous versin of the game and cannot be loaded". I have since re-installed the game and re-applied the 1.06 patch and get the same error when trying to load a save game that I saved from version 1.06?

Which version do you have and which patch did you install? Are you sure this is a saved game from 1.06? Try saving and loading a new game. We've had these problems reported before and they have always turned out to be attempts to load old saved games by mistake.

I downloaded version 1.0 from slitherine then I immediatly upgraded to 1.06. I then started a new game and moved a few tanks then I saved the game. I then went back to load the saved game and recieved this error message "Exception this game was saved in a previous version of the game and cannot be loaded".....so I backtracked and uninstalled the game then reinstalled the game and this time upgraded to patch 1.04 and started a new game and then saved then game....it then loaded ok...so version 1.04 worked correctly.....so I tried to apply the 1.06 patch to the 1.04 version....and yes I started a NEW game and then saved that game....but when I tried to load it gave me the same error message "Exception this game was saved in a previous version of the game and cannot be loaded".....so I went back and reinstalled again (which by the way gave me an error message from digital river saying I have used the key too many times!)..and just upgraded to version 1.04 which is working ok.....

Did you DL the 1.06 patch from Slitherine?

What sort of game are you playing single/multiplayer? Which dir do you save the game to?

Playing a single player game....and saving to the default installation folder....I have also tried to save it in other folders but no luck....In addition I have tried to install in other folders (not the default)...but no luck either....if i save the game from ver 1.06 and then try to load it why does the game think the save is from an earlier version?..(i could email you a save game?)

Yes please - mail us the saved game to info@slitherine.co.uk and we'll check it out. Maybe something has become corrupt on your PC.

Make sure you load it the right way, single player with load game, multiplayer with load multiplayer game.
If you are playing hotseat game and save, you have to load it with "Load Multiplayer".

The load save problem is fixed now. It occur due to software conflicts on your machine and is solved using Start->Program-Accessories->System Restore
to an earlier point. You can in fact restore it back to todays point also and it will still work.

help, im angry and tired, i have same problem, says exactly the same: it cant load because was saven on al older version, i downloaded the demo yesterday and then buyed the game and installed today, been playing all day, saved my game and when i wanted to load, guess what? it cant load, later i read this post and do exactly as it says and restored on a previous point, i only got my game erased and have to reinstall the game because it doesnt even open the game, now freshly istalled i begin new game, move one tank and saved, later tried to load.. and you know... "this game was saved on previous version etc etc etc" very angry

The message "this game was saved on previous version" should have been named "game cannot be loaded" since it is more generic. In your case, the version is not the problem, the text just give you wrong feedback since we did not have all cornercases covered in text.

The problem with not being able to load saves is a path problem so is your system preventing you to access files. Can you double check that the folders are not somehow protected by the OS. For example, do you log in as administrator and can access anything?

Is everyone here running on Vista?
I had the same problem using Vista, used System Restore to an earlier point and problem vanished. Even restoring it back to the future again I still had no trouble loading saves anymore so in my case it was my OS system needing a repair.

We think we may have found the problem. A recent windows update seems to have cut compability with teh Java version we were using. We have since upgraded to a newer version (the reason we avoided doing this sooner was to avoid introducing bugs!). If you are experiencing this problem please try the Beta patch here http://www.slitherine.com/files/ceaw/pa ... hotfix.exe

If it helps let us know so we can make it official.
