Hi - I've not played CEAW for a while (and this is my first time with anything later than GS 1.x) and have noticed whilst attacking Syria as the Axis in my current game with RichardsD that the Allied defenders were at supply level 4, whilst the axis were still at supply level 3. I thought this might have been due to the Allies having control of some minor capitals in the region (Damascus and Baghdad), though thought that a little odd, as I thought minor capitals only gave supply 3. Also, I've now captured Damascus, but my units are still only at supply 3 in the following turns, even in clear hexes.
Also, I've now advanced some units to the Iraqi border, and have noticed that the nearby Allied-controlled hexes there are reporting supply level 5. Does this mean that allied units in clear hexes in Iraq (and presumably Persia) will actually have a supply level of 5? If so - where is this supply coming from? Is this from Moscow (a major capital), but in that case at that distance, wouldn't the maximum supply be 4? Or - is the high level of allied supply in Iraqi hexes coming from somewhere else? Is this, for example, representing supply from India, or is it due solely to Baghdad or some other supply source (e.g. Basra?). If Baghdad (or Basra?) is captured would the Allied maximum supply drop to 3? Also would the Axis supply *ever* increase to more than 3 if they capture Baghdad and /or Basra or only if Turkey is conquered or a route opened through the Caucasus?
Lastly, as I understand it - Soviet units cannot rail into Iraq or Persia due to the different rail gauge (which doesn't ever change for them), and they will be at maximum supply 3 in Iraq, Persia and the rest of the Middle East - is that correct?
Sorry to sound like such a noob, but even in my GS 1.x playing days, I never got this far into the Middle East as the Axis!

Basra provides supply level 5 for the Allies (only). Russian units outside Russian controlled hexes will have lower supply level (usually 3).
Re: Middle East Supply Level Questions (RichardsD welcome)
Basra is a level 5 supply source. So any hexes beyond 20 hexes will go to level 4, beyond 40 is level 3 supply for Western allied units.

Ah, I see, makes sense now! I guess this is to represent that Basra could be easily supplied from India?pk867 wrote:Basra is a level 5 supply source. So any hexes beyond 20 hexes will go to level 4, beyond 40 is level 3 supply for Western allied units.

Is the supply level of Russian units due to distance from Moscow? Also, I presume they can't rail into or out of the Middle East?Stauffenberg wrote:Basra provides supply level 5 for the Allies (only). Russian units outside Russian controlled hexes will have lower supply level (usually 3).

Thanks for all the replies guys. Sounds like the Axis need to gather a strong force together before advancing too far into the Allied level 5 supply zone
