Steam only accounts... do they use the multiplayer account?

Perhaps a strange question, but I own all my games via purchase here, so I can't know if a person gets the game via Steam only instead, if the multiplayer functions different (as I have no way to experience it that way).

I'm referring to account names I suppose. Will they need to open an account here?

Yes - they will need to sign up here to play on our servers.
