Downloading Games purchased from Slitherine

Post by Starvolok »

This is not only an idea , not a novel idea , not a new one , but a fair one. When a customer pays for a game from your company, why does said customer have to humbly request from your company the ability to redownload aforementioned purchased game?
The reason why this subject comes up is I found myself having to reinstall windows 7 after my registry was chewed to bits by a so called Registry repair program. I found myself having to start over from scratch except for the fact that I had two one terabyte drives with all my games on them and the drive that was destroyed was my windows / system drive. This drive contained bits of code that allowed all those games on the other drives to run. I had Battle Academy , a game I purchased through digital download from Slitherine and have had to request the ability to download it a second time once before, but as I said I lost some serious information and capabilities when my system drive was wiped out. I retain the product key which is what other companies see as a license to the purchased product , even Microsoft has this same concept you are given complete access to the product which you have purchased and emailed a key , you may dowload it as much as you need to but if you do not have the key, then you cannot access the product. It would be not only right , but a great convenience if you allowed a customer who had an account on your website access to the games that were purchased in the past. STEAM does this very thing. so does Gamestop only they do it more elaborate than most. So How about it? Isn't it about time your companies paranoia end forthwith? I am probably not the first person to mention this but it needs to be said. One main reason I have been reluctant to purchase any other games from Slitherine is due to your stingy policy of not allowing access to a game that is paid for through digital download. AS if we are second class customers or something and not worthy of what we pay for.

We are working toward a system of automated downloads which do not require emails to be sent, but this requires a considerable amount of work unfortunately as we have multiple sites and userbases. It's certainly not paranoia :)

That said, to solve your immediate problem an email to support@slitherine.co.uk should get you a new download link without delay.

Cheers

I once thought the world of back ups on disc, but discs fail. I went with the notion of back up drives, and how about that, back up drives fail go figure.

Today my advice, is you paid for it, store it on the system it is used on, then on disc, and then on an external drive and perhaps even an online service like what I have through my Asus products permits me.

The lesson, if it is worth something, don't keep it in just one place :)
