I am trying to play the Ft Koenigsmaker scenario (2nd to last) of Fortress Metz. I can select it and select all of my forces. When it moves on to the overview screen, I get a blank map. Whent the game finally starts, everything comes up but my mouse pointer is a black box. Anyone else having this problem? I've played through the scenario fine before without issue. The preceeding scenarios work fine.

Re: Fort Koenigsmaker problem
More information: I tried the last Scenario (Metz) and it does the same thing. I tried the last scenario of another campaign and it worked fine.
1) The Intro screen comes up.
2) Force selection works.
3) Intro map is ablank gray screen the size of the intro map. You can even see the text boxes appear.
4) I managed to get into the game. The action overlays, mouse pointer and unit information are all blank (black or gray rectangles and squares) when you try to use them. The game map and units all come up OK.
All other scenarios in Metz work fine. In fact, I've played through all the missions just fine, including thse two. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
John

Re: Fort Koenigsmaker problem
It sounds like a data issue - perhaps a reinstall? Hmmm - or on further reading, it could be a gfx card issue - do you have the latest drivers (or, indeed, have they updated recently and are perhaps buggy?).

Re: Fort Koenigsmaker problem
I was leaning toward a data corruption issue myself. Permissions on the files are correct and yes...the files exist.
If it were a video card issue, the game should stop functioning as a whole. Only 2 scenarios, both in the Metz package, are not working correctly. I can try to re-install Metz.
Thanks,
John

Re: Fort Koenigsmaker problem
I figured out the problem and thought I'd post my solution so in case anyone else suffers the same graphical issues, they know what to do.
I run BA in Linux/WINE. The problem was that certain scnarios would not display graphics in the "briefing" screen of a scenario...the scenario introduction just after you select forces. If you managed to get to the battlefield, you would have no mouse pointer. After reloading the game and patching back to 2.50, i had the same problem. I also removed my progress files in /My Games. Still no luck. Then I saw there was a post relase update driver for my ATI card in Ubuntu Linux. I refrained from loading this in the past because it was still beta software. As of this writing, the driver is full release and there is another beta driver available. So I loaded the post release and everything worked great! I suspect something changed between patch 2.30 and patch 2.50 that the old software driver didn't like. It's working now and I am happy!
Also, a special thanks to Slitherine should be mentioned here. When i deleted my game, I discovered that I did not safe guard 3 of my serial numbers. They happily sent me them in the e-mail. Great service and great company!
