One thing I would like to see is:

animated dice. I'd like the excitement of seeing my dice roll on the table and hoping I score sixes.

Inspired by but somewhat off topic, as a neophyte FogR player, such animated dice would be good for the tabletop as well if tied to a combat matching algorithm that would allow you to input troop types and would come up with how many dice, and what the results mean in the melee.

Anyway, I agree with cromlechi that animated dice would be fun and make the game more .... "tabletop."

Though there are many great suggestions here for enhancements, I would be satisfied initially with the same mechanics with the new code base and getting some of the DLC's that have been put aside (Wolves, Eagles, Fealty etc.). Any word on when we can expect to see the new game come out?

Also, just my 2 cents, I would love to see this game adapted to Renaissance, Napoleonic or even Age of Rifles.

Agreed, I'd be happy with any new additions in terms of expansion packs.

Not to mention an occasional "We're not dead yet" post from the developers.

Nyah, I'm just another cranky old guy, I'm waiting for the already-proofed-so-even-cranky-old-guys-can-play version. All the rule sets I've ever played merge in my head at times making me the world's worst beta-tester. Say, do they have a working AI yet? I'm not sure if I'll have internet in the coffin.

I have to agree with jimkoby. I haven't messed with the Beta either, so even a short note to let us know where things stand would be appreciated.

Somehow, with "CaptainHuge" on my side I feel distinctly SuperHeroic. Can one of you young and brave folks in the ether let me know about the Beta's AI?

The beta AI hasn't been released yet. Should be ready soon as far as I know.

Ha! Nothing SuperHeroic about the name, just a mispronunciation during French language training in the Air Force. It kind of stuck after that. :)

Will the army books we already own work in v2 of FOG when its issues? I only own Rise of Rome at the moment and am reluctant to buy more under the old system in case they don't work and I have to buy them again when the new version is issued?

Sorry, but when released "Field of Glory - Wolves From The Sea" (Digital)?
Why FOG Digital not updated for a long time?
Thanks...

Very good questions. There is a new software company involved in re-writing the game in a new code, but it seems to be taking forever now. I don't know why. It is a shame because this game will be absolutely massive as soon as it is re-launched properly.

Please, tell me more about new software company and new game in new code, I don't know about it.
May be we can help them at kickstarter?

If I read correctly, the Wolves From The Sea expansion will not be out on schedule. Being a period that I am extremely interested in, I am a bit disappointed. I purchased the entire system recently in anticipation for this expansion. While I think I understand the reason not to, selfishly I wish the new developers would continue using the same development system just to meet the posted release date for the Wolves From The Sea expansion.

Sorry for complaining. I am loving the game system so far and there are *plenty* of battles/armies to choose from, but I really wanted to break a Saxon shieldwall this summer.

This post from MattMan467 is now 2 years old and " Wolves From The Sea" has still not been released.
The promise that " Wolves From The Sea" was to be released was fundamental in my purchasing the "Field of Glory" game system, but it seems Slitherine has given up on this - the promised "New Field of Glory" turns out to be a myth.

Very disappointing, I had thought that Slitherine honoured their commitments, sad to see that is not so.

I share your frustration that FOG2 and WotS are not officially out yet. But you can still download and play the open beta version that have WotS fully operational.
