Panzer Corps on Steam:
I was asked and given the opportunity to try the game via Steam by courtesy of Rudenkort and VPaulus; thanks guys
Playing a game on the Steam platform was not a stranger to me. For a long time, i am playing Civ 5 that way. Steam has grown into a dedicated place to buy and play games and to interact with other players.
Panzer Corps on the Steam platform is definitely a winner. The list of achievements introduce new ways of playing the game, beside the different game rules, and plenty achievements offer quite a challenge. How to imagine winning a campaign without buying artillery for example? Simply stated, the achievements take your cunning to a new level and offers the opportunity to discover new aspects (and the add-ons) of the base game.
I played Panzer Corps on Steam for approximately 14 hours, played several scenarios from Allied Corps and Africa Korps and i amassed 12/84 achievements. I also played a few scenarios of a custom mod of mine (with vanilla e-file) and everything was running smooth and easy. While playing, I went back to the steam window from time to time, to find out if i made another achievement
Today i generated the Grand Campaign keys, and were succesfully added into Steam. And the achievement overview screen works as a charm.

Onward to the next achievement

Re: Steam reviews
Thanks! Make sure to post your reviews in Steam!
Re: Steam reviews
Very cool!
Re: Steam reviews
This is the text i posted in the steam community; my nick on Steam is ladkazdroj btw.
*bow*On steam i have a different nick than on Slitherine.com, but i am much better known in the Panzer Corps community as Nikivdd.
I bought the game as soon as it was released 3 years ago and i went into Panzer Corps modding less than a month later.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the rebirth of Panzer General is called Panzer Corps. A dream becoming reality, as i have always been a PG fanatic and finally i no longer needed dosbox to play the best turn based strategy game every devised. The main game of Panzer Corps comes with a tutorial campaign (for new players) and a basic campaign, spanning WW2. Single scenarios can be played as well and not to forget, the possibility to play multiplayer games.
Africa Korps and Allied Corps are two great add-ons where in Africa Korps you can command and purchase a mixed force of Italian and German troops and where Alllied Corps offers the opportunity to start either as the Americans or the British. The British campaign of Allied Corps kicks off as a tutorial, in which difficulty augments slowly but it does feel good to kick the Italians big time in the butt, but when Rommel finaly arrives, you will need all your command abilities to outsmart the Desert Fox. For every campaign, you can make a lot of choices in terms of difficulty (very detailed), terms of game play and you can built and expand your army with a whole variety of units. You can even be rewarded an extra unit from time to time, SE units called, that do not count towards the number of units you can have in your army. Africa Korps and Allied Corps are guarantees for many hours of extra game play. It is not only while playing Civ 5 that a little voice says...one more turn please.... Hopefully your Africa Korps will march into Egypt
The Grand Campaign (the DLCs 39-40 and 41-45 East and 42-45 West) offer over a hundred new scenarios. Each year of the war is a campaign on its own, but oh so special, that when you finish for example DLC 39, you can carry over and import (by prompt) your army in DLC 40! You can also start any DLC of any given year, with the pre-placed army. You will experience Stalingrad as General Paulus or D-Day as FM Rommel.
Panzer Corps which is now finally available on Steam, is not the same game as it appeared three years ago. It became twice as good by several patches, new content, and surely by the tremendous feedback by the Panzer Corps community. How many games are out there, where the community has a say in the development of a game?
I gladly admit, I have never enjoyed a community as much as the Panzer Corps community and as such to be part of a great family and i made a lot of new friends in the process.
So, if you decide to buy the game on Steam, keep in mind that you reap the fruits of three years of game improvements!
And in the meantime the PC community awaits with great anticipation, the next installment, namely, Soviet Corps!

Re: Steam reviews
I am not familiar with Steam, so I have a few basic questions:
a) Does steam require any software to be downloaded on my computer?
b) How long will the "key exchange" be in affect for those who have already purchased Panzer Corps?
c) Will Steam make it more attractive for multiplayer battles against human opponents, tournaments and such?

Re: Steam reviews
a) Yes, you'll need a steam client, create an account and then bind the game serial to your account.

Re: Steam reviews
The Steam version doesn't give you any extra features other than achievements and we're looking to see if we can bolt them in to the existing version. Multiplayer is exactly the same and through our server.

Re: Steam reviews
Sorry about this - we tried to make the system as easy to use as possible and having it as a stand alone would force most people to download triple the content and triple the patches and then would be issues about which game the DLC's should be linked to. Overall we decided to keep it simple for everyone but it does mean to register on steam you need the base game, but we did just drop the price to $19.99 so there has never been a better time to buy!
