I'm putting this here since it's a general forum question.
Yesterday there was a question in the CEAW forum about using the editor with the new patch.
I posted a detailed reply, explaining about the files that needed to be copied. Then today, the whole thread is gone.
Pardon me, folks, but it severely pisses me off to invest 10 or 15 minutes of my time posting a detailed reply to a question, giving helpful hints that were NOT forthcoming from any other source, and then have my efforts vanish with no explanation. Without the file copying I suggested, no scenario created by the v1.04 editor will work with the v1.06 patch because the MAPS ARE DIFFERENT!
I wrote nothing controversial, used no profanity, in short did nothing which would cause the post to be removed for violation of TOS, and yet, the whole THREAD is gone.
WTF, over???
Why do my posts disappear?

No, nothing has been removed. We have had some technical isues recently because Field of Glory traffic has strained the forum. We've upgraded the server but the traffic has increased so fast we are probably going to have ungrade again. It's a real pain when this type of thing happens and we're trying to sort out the issues by adding more memory to the server

Yes, Iain, I saw it posted. In fact I went back and edited it, because I realized that my original post addressed only the Slitherine version, and I wanted to add some hints on how to proceed for those who have the Matrix version.iainmcneil wrote:No, nothing has been removed. I will also apologize for the overly strident tone of my original post here. Yesterday was a truly horrid, horrid day at work, and I was still in a three-foot hover when I came home. No excuse, I know, but I do apologize.
At any rate, there does need to be something written up about how to adapt the V1.04 editor to use with the game patched to v1.06; as I stated above, the existing editor will not produce scenarios that work with the v1.06 patch, because the versions of ww2.map (and also ww2_city_eng.txt) are different.
Mind you, the fix is a simple matter of copying files. Would you like me to write this up again, and PM it to you? It'd probably be quicker and easier for you to proof my write-up than do it yourself...and I know you're always short of man-hours.
