West 44 DDay - How long to hold Beaches?

Post by kverdon »

I have moved on to the D-Day scenario. The objective is to secure temporary control of 2 clusters of beach hexes. I have been notified that I have temporary control over both sword and Juno beaches. How long do I have to control them? Until the Scenario ends? (this seem unlikely... as I have no where near enough units to do this for another 8 turns...)

thanks,

Kevin

You don't have to control the beaches all the time (which is impossible), only at the end of the game (and only two of them).

You have to hold the beaches for AT LEAST one turn each, but not necessarily at the same time. It doesn't matter if you still hold them at the last turn or not.

Also, anyone managed to hold 3 whole beaches to the end? I missed it by one turn, when the Canadians landed another unit on Juno. (I was still holding Omaha and Gold)

Are you sure about that? I can't imagine winning this scenario is that easy. :)

Well, I played the scenario twice and won both a DV (general difficulty). I held three beaches (except Sword). With the units at Sword beach I delay the allied advance as long as possible and with two of my core units I block the bridges across the Orne. The rest of my core is going for Omaha, Juno and Gold. Unfortunately there is no bonus for holding three beaches. :(

You do only need to do that much - I checked the codes for the scenario.
