Invisible unit crashes program
I've just started playing the Barbarossa campaign in Panzer Corps, and am on the first scenario (playing at Sergeant level). When I move through my units using the N key, it tells me I have a unit "17th SdKfz 232 8Rad" on the airfield at 4,10 (just south of Siedlce). It gives me its stats and shows me where I can move it to, but there is no icon visible for the unit, and if I try to move it, the program crashes back to Windows. I've not had a single crash in playing through the Tutorial or Early Blitzkriegs campaign. I've attached my DirectX diagnostics.

Hello carandol, have you used or installed any mods? Are you using the latest version (1.22)?
If you are not sure you can download patch 1.22 and apply that before you try anything else, it might fix the problem as it will overwrite outdated/modded files: ftp://ftp.matrixgames.com/pub/PanzerCor ... e-v122.zip

Thanks, folks! I'm on version 1.22, and I haven't installed any non-official mods, though I've got Allied Corps, Afrika Corps and the Grand Campaign megapack installed, would that make any difference? I'm not sure about re-installing the equipment file from December, would that have been superceded by the January update?
Re: Invisible unit crashes program
Yes, that link is outdated. What expansion did you install last? For example, if you have installed the Megapack after AC, some of the newer files can be overwritten with older versions.
To be sure, you can re-apply the 1.22 patch, to make sure your Panzer Corps is up to date. When re-installing PzC I always make sure I apply the 1.22 patch last, just to be certain that everything is up-to-date.
BTW, about the unit you are missing, does it show up in the purchase menu? (It's a recon unit, the first 8-wheeler available)

Re: Invisible unit crashes program
OK, I've reinstalled the program from the disc, then downloaded and installed the update to version 1.2, and the problem's still there. When I was installing the program from the disc, I got the following error messages:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Panzer Corps\Graphics\Units\SdKfz_231_6Rad.png
A decompression error has occurred (#2026)
Unknown decompression error
C:\Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Panzer Corps\Graphics\Units\SdKfz_232_8Rad.png
A decompression error has occurred (#2026)
Unknown decompression error
They gave me the option of Retry, Ignore or Cancel - if I retried I got the same message again, if I cancelled it stopped the installation, so i had to Ignore, and the installation continued.
When I installed the 1.2 patch, the first error message didn't show, but the second was still there - which is obviously the missing graphic.
And in reply to your question, the unit does show up in the purchase menu, but it has no picture with it, and the same in the unit list.
Quite *why* the graphic is failing to decompress is beyond me!
PS, the forum keeps timing out when I try to post...

Aha, fixed it! Thanks for the graphic, huertgenwald - when I tried to copy it into the directory, it wouldn't let me and said the file or directory was corrupted. Turned out to be a hard drive error, affecting just that one file. I ran chkdsk, copied the file in, and everything's working. Thanks to everyone who's chipped in with ideas. On to Moscow!
