Multiplayer newbie
Just signed up tonight. Checked out multiplayer and issued a challenge, I think. A quick run down of the entire multiplayer format/ protocol would be helpful. Not sure how it works exactly, any info appreciated.
Re: Multiplayer newbie
Hello BAK72, the multiplayer system uses a PBEM server, so each turn gets sent to the other player, when he/she logs into multiplayer any turns that are ready to play are displayed. There is also a small tray program to show when a turn is ready to play for the PC version here: viewtopic.php?f=121&t=26014
If you issue a challenge, you can choose what side you will play, or you can choose a paired game, where you effectively play the same scenario twice against your opponent, but the other game has switched the side you play.
If you enter a password when issuing a challenge, the game will appear locked in the challenge screen, and can only be accepted by another player if he/she enters the password you set. This is so you can email/PM the password to set up a game against someone you know.
If you leave the 'password' field empty anyone can accept your challenge. I just logged in briefly to see if you have indeed succesfully issued one: when I opened the 'accept a challenge' tab, and I see a challenge for 'The Frozen North' issued by BAK72, but it is locked so anyone who wants to accept it will need the password you have set.
When the challenge is accepted, the side that has the first turn plays the first turn. So sometimes someone accepts and gets to play first, sometimes they accept and the game gets send back to your account so you can play the first. After that it alternates, just check the 'current games' tab to see whose turn it is to play, see 'My Turn (0)' and 'Opponent's turn (0)', the zeroes change into (1) if that player is the one that is supposed to play the turn. You can send each other messages with the little 'text bubble' button that is right above the 'purchase unit' button. You can also click it (or use Ctrl-M) to review any messages or scenario information.
So, I hope this helps a bit, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Happy gaming!

Bak72,
PM me if you want to setup a multiplayer game. I have just about finished my first Panzer Corps multi player game ever and will be looking for a new one. So I am relatively new too.
