Paralyzed by choices: AC? AK?? GC???
I've just bought the give me everything package on my iPad. And now I have no idea which part to play next! I want to play the epic Grand Campaign starting from '39, but that would mean I need to commit a looooong time to play through all the GC. I want to play AK because it's interesting as I have very little knowledge about the african campaign. But I also want to play AC because it'll be so much fun(?) fighting superior German hardware with inferior allied equipment. But then again I want to play the "protagonist" - the Germans - in their detailed glory which is what the GC doing! And so on and so on...

Just play the Grand Campaign first, it's a lot of fun. Allied Corps is kind of fun for a change of pace, then Afrika Corps for a challenge. I wouldn't say inferior allied equipment, because my cruiser tanks were spanking the italians all over the place and by the time you face the allies your guys all have 2-3 stars, then you can update to Matilda tanks by then as well. The German equipment in AK with those weak italian tanks is tough against the UK...

What a great problem to have
I say play them in order of increased fun factor and play time, although they are all fun. Go with less fun and shorter first. To me the order will be Allied Corps first as it was shorter and had less equipment variations. I went all Churchills the whole campaign as the British. The USA campaign was more of the same except for 2 scenarios, that was disappointing (the USA campaign being samey and not AC which was good fun the first time through). So play AC as British as it starts in earlier years and then skip the USA (you can use USA equipment in British campaign so you miss nothing). Then play Afrika Corps, that really was an improvement and was great. And then finally go play the longer Grand Campaign - East 39-45, then West 42-45 last. You will have a taste of everything in the shortest time following that path. And then after you are about to finish probably Soviet Corps be here?!
By playing in that order you are constantly adding to the fun instead of feeling down after tasting something better.
Then theres the various difficulty levels to try everything again. And after that the tons of user created content too. Whew would this ever end? I hope not.

I had this problem when I first got the game (well, Wehrmacht or GC!) - the Grand Campaign is quite good '39 until '41, and then Western Front '42 until '45. I don't really think much of the Eastern Front ending (wayyyyyyy to hard!)
AK is quite good but the 7th scenario "Gazala Line" is quite annoying - you beat that and you should get to India easily (still working on Gazala after 2 years!)
Allied Corps has some mega easy scenarios at the start so starting in 1940 is a bit silly (the 1st scenario can only be lost if you sit there and just press end turn repeatedly). Best to start in 1943, as invading Italy can be a good way to begin a campaign.
Alternatively, you may want to check out the modding section of this forum. There are quite a few good ones out there (including my near-complete WWI project), so you should give them a try.

Id say PC first as its the base game, then AC. Then AK, although im not a fan of that one. Then once you get those done, get all the DLC and play those, then.... hit the great MODs that people have made!! Then repeat lol

Well, since I'm playing on iPad, mods are out of question for the moment. But hey, after finishing aaaaalll the vanilla content I may just buy the PC version again just to support the devs.
I think I'll go with AC first then, it'll be interesting to see how it feels going against the Germans on the battlefield...as when playing Wehrmacht I often laugh at those early allied weaksauce tanks in their faces.

AC is quite fun especially as the mix of unit strengths and weaknesses is quite different relatvie to the italian and german troops. However, it did take me a whiel to get the hang of this, so maybe if you'd asked me when it was new I'd ahve been less enthusiastic..

You're right about weak Allied tanks - 7tp's are really bad, and most of the french ones aren't any good either (char bis is stronger than a pz38ta though)HeresiarchQin wrote:Well, since I'm playing on iPad, mods are out of question for the moment. I will second that about the mindset change you need to make playing AC. After two years as the germans in PC, AC was hard to play first time through. No longer are the tanks the King of your army, infantry, artillery and airpower are whats going to win games for you in AC. But I guess thats what makes AC and PC so fun, as they take such difference styles to do well.

Hmm I found Allied armor wasn't too bad with the hvy Churchills, sure they don't inflict a metric ton of damage but they don't receive much either. Earlier on this evening I played Bastogne and my 1 star Churchill VI (I believe.. the one that has the hard defence of 26) came under attack by a 3 star elite panther and resisted pretty well, when I wanted to attack the odds were 1+ and 1-... and my chruchill was down to 7 steps compared to the Panther's 10. Also the Firefly and Comet are fairly decent (or amazing as elites, mine are pretty much 1 star or 0 star, i sustained massive casualties in operation cobra)
But we all know Allies were renown for their airpower so my core is filled with a crap ton of P-47s, Gloster Meteors, Mosquito fighter bombers, Halifax and B-29
Also about which AC, AK or GC you should start, idk bout the ipod version and how many saves you can make but what I usually do is start each campaign, save on the very first mission, and from there on out play which ever one I feel like whenever I want. I hate limiting myself to 1 single scenario and playing it out at the end, I jump around my scenarios frequently.
