NZ Natcon 2014

Post by Philip »

FOGN will be offered at Natcon in Christchurch this year. Standard format of 6 games over 3 days at Eastertime. I'll post more details later here http://forum.nzwargamer.net/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=11452

We just need to get 8 confirmed registrations by mid-March, but that shouldn't be too difficult following the good turnout at Battlecry last weekend.

I'll be bringing my German Confederation again, so lots of easy points on offer for everyone else :)

Registration details - http://forum.nzwargamer.net/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=11292

In!

Might be looking at a multi-national corps with a cheese sauce.

You mean six games, over three days, in a small confined space next to the adolescent 40K competition?

The prospects for baiting alone make this a priceless opportunity - Purge the Alien! The Emperor Wills It!

I'm seeing RED already just thinking about it.

V2 of the saxons on the painting table, not that they weren't competitive in incompetent hands the first time, hopefully the hands will be slightly more competent this time round. Got some more practice in Thames with the large battle, I know the secret to beating Brett is just to charge his infantry and guns whenever you get the chance, as napoleon he singularly failed to halt charges by shooting every time.

My problem now is deciding on which of five lists to use!

Oh Kendall, don't be such a tease :-) ...

Anyways, you taught me everything that I know about the potential uses of Cossacks !! Oh, and the old 'hide-behind-the-hill' defensive deployment I think will become a "classic" too !

Bring the Prussians !! By far your best army mix yet.

Buggar, he's worked me out. I'll have to bring a cavalry corps with no artillery. ..

That was a fun game. It was 3000 points a side, 1815 Prusso-Anglo-allied v. French.
stunning win to the allies. Never mind the wet powder we must have had, I'm still having nightmares about that Brunswick LC unit and demon little Dutch horse artillery unit successfully holding a defile all game against 5 dragoon and guard cavalry units. Madness!

Just looking at the numbers, is there no south island FOGN community? Do we only have a North Shore FOGN community (apart from odds and sods like me) in NZ?

That's why we take FOGN on tour in order to foster national awareness. There are a few more in Auckland but it would be nice to break into Wellington.

Steve, fully a quarter of the attendees aren't from Auckland :-) !!!

And, let's face it, the only 2 non-Aucklanders at Battlecry did take half of the top 4 places :-) :-) ... though I am fully anticipating finishing at the bottom at NatCon with the Russians, so it will be all down to you to hold up the quality of the non-Auckland participation.

Anyways, I have no doubt that you will make a fine ambassador for FoGN.

Me thinks u will have a load of artillery and cossacks I have no idea about, but this is all just a big learning curve - I never played half of the guys at Battlecry so I should get a decent chance at playing them at natcon. More peeps I haven't played means more armies I will get to see for the first time, which is always fun.

There were several enquiries about FOG-N from players in other parts of the country, but that didn't convert into entries for the tournament. Still, it will be a good opportunity to show off the game at the Nationals!

Now that lists should be in, any chance you could advise the runners and list page they are using? Without giving away actual lists it still gives us something ponder about.
