Portable Defences, Medium Foot in the Open

Medium Foot behind stakes in the open. Do units armed with Lance get the POA for Lance, Also do Mounted get the POA for fighting MF in the open?
The way I read it is treated as defending FF, Which is not in the open see open terrain definition.. In which case you don't get lance and MTD don't get the POA for fighting MF in the open.. ??

You are correct on both counts Robert. No Lance - no MF in the open.

Assuming the MF lose the impact , they wouldn't take a CT -1 for losing to mounted (not in the open) but they would still take the -1 CT for losing to lancers. Yes?

I believe so. The same as Elephants losing against lancers, the POA doesn't matter. The weapon matters.
