Troops charging with out orders

Post by Andy1972 »

I'm just reading through the rules for the first time.. shock troops have chance of doing this.. Im thinking that roman legionarries are shock troops(i cant spell).. i cannot see how they can be impetious. unless somewhere i missed saying DRILLED shock troops are not impetious. I know im a noob reading through this.. just need some insight. Maybe the army list cover this.. I just got the storm of arrows. so i havnt been able to read a whole lot yet about it. Thanks guys! Cheers!

All shock troops whether drilled or undrilled have a chance to charge without orders if within thier move distance. There are historical instances of them attacking without orders - at least one in Caesar's commentaries for example.

Forget impetuous as of "old" - we don't feel that such a concept existded really.

Instead what we feel is more correct is that all troops who were inclined to get stuck in are tempted to charge once enemy are nearby.

There is evidence for this with drilled troops as much as undrilled. So it applies to both.

However drilled have a much higher chance of passing if you don't want them to.
