Reasons for failures/follow up launches?

Post by nats »

It seems a bit of a shame that when there is a failure there is no reason given. For example othes have queried how a countdown can fail. Well examples of failed countdowns could relating to alarms on cooling pumps, or failure of gantry mechanics etc. It would be really atmospheric if every failure could be given a varied realistic reason rather than the player just being told he had failed.

Similarly if you manage to adopt some of what I mentioned in the other post about extra prelaunch scenes being added, maybe weather could become a reason for failure of prelaunch checks whilst on the launch pad etc. If you fail at this stage it could be just a matter of rescheduling the launch so might not be very catastrophic. If it was just bad weather that subsequently clears an immediate follow up launch might be able to be selected which would start straight from the launch pad a few days later, with very little impact on reliability and money. However a long period of stormy weather might have more impact.

These little touches could really make the gameplay fluid and exciting whilst you wait to launch. I think the prelaunch is one of the most thrilling bits of any launch and is the period when most launches can get scrubbed at the last minute.

This is being worked on at the moment, various failure reasons are being scripted and tested and they will very likley be added to the final version.

Thanks, its imho a good suggestion. Other players have called for weather related events as well. From what I know, various events (including historic, weather and political ones) are possible upcoming features.

Stay tuned, the game is still in betatest stages and many new features are being added or are waiting to be added. If you come up with more suggestions, feel free to post them here.
